Join Aurecon's Ground & Underground Engineering team in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, where you'll work on major transport infrastructure projects for NZTA and other key clients. From highways and bridges to complex earthworks and ground engineering, you'll help deliver practical, sustainable solutions that strengthen communities and improve how people connect across Aotearoa.
As a Lead Geotechnical Engineer, you'll lead technically challenging projects from investigation through to construction, combining technical expertise with client leadership to deliver practical, sustainable solutions. You'll have the opportunity to influence project outcomes, mentor emerging engineers, and contribute to a nationally connected team of geotechnical specialists.
Your day will include:
Leading geotechnical investigations, analysis and design across a diverse portfolio of nationally significant transport and water infrastructure projects.
Delivering technically robust solutions in areas including foundations, settlement, slope stability, retaining structures and ground improvement.
Planning and overseeing site investigations, interpreting ground conditions and developing geotechnical models to inform engineering design.
Building trusted relationships with clients while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
Leading teams of junior geologists and geotechnical engineers, helping grow capability across the team to deliver projects
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or Geotechnical Engineering), with 8+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally in engineering consultancy.
Strong experience in geotechnical analysis and design in New Zealand, including settlement, foundations, slope stability, and retaining wall design
Proven experience in planning and delivering site investigations, ground modelling, and geotechnical risks assessment
A collaborative mindset and a passion for developing junior team members in a project environment
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or a commitment to achieving chartership.
