Job Description:
Why join us
At Nutreco, our purpose is Feeding the Future through sustainable and innovative practices. As part of the SHV family, Nutreco operates globally through its two business lines, Trouw Nutrition and Skretting, helping customers produce food responsibly and sustainably.
We are looking for a Ruminant Technical Advisor to join our Trouw Nutrition Ireland team. This is a field-based technical and customer-facing role supporting B2B feed mill customers, with a primary focus on dairy and broader ruminant nutrition. You will help customers turn technical data into practical nutritional solutions, while working closely with our
Account Managers to strengthen customer relationships and support commercial growth.
This role is ideally suited to an animal nutritionist, veterinarian or ruminant technical professional who enjoys working directly with customers, presenting technical insights clearly and contributing to both customer performance and business development.
What you’ll do
You will spend much of your time visiting customers, delivering training, reviewing technical data and working alongside Account Managers to support customer needs and identify opportunities.
In practice, that means you will:
Provide technical advice and nutritional support to B2B feed mill customers, primarily in the dairy sector and wider ruminant market
Visit customers across Ireland, with most activity expected in Northern Ireland, to understand their needs and support technical conversations
Analyse technical and customer data, translating findings into clear and practical recommendations
Deliver customer training sessions, product presentations and technical support tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences
Work in partnership with Account Managers, who retain ownership of the customer relationship, to provide technical credibility and support joint customer visits
Support product adoption and commercially focused customer discussions by connecting technical solutions with customer needs
Build and maintain effective relationships with customer technical, nutritional and commercial contacts.
Use tools such as Bestmix, formulation systems and basic Excel analysis to support customer discussions and recommendations
Keep up to date with developments in ruminant nutrition, feed additives and dairy production practices.
You will receive training on our products, systems and technical solutions, enabling you to build further product knowledge once you join.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for someone with a solid foundation in ruminant nutrition and the confidence to work directly with customers. You do not need to have extensive commercial experience, but you should be comfortable contributing to customer conversations and working collaboratively with sales colleagues.
You may be an animal nutritionist, veterinarian, agricultural science graduate or technical professional with early field experience in animal nutrition, feed, livestock production or a related area.
You’ll also need:
A degree or relevant qualification in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science or a related discipline
1-2 years of relevant practical or field-based experience, ideally within ruminant nutrition, livestock production, feed or agricultural advisory work
A sound understanding of ruminant production systems, with dairy experience particularly relevant
Knowledge of feed additives, powders, nutritional products or related animal nutrition solutions.
The ability to interpret technical data and present it clearly to different customer audiences, including farmers and technical specialists.
Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills
A collaborative approach and the ability to work closely with Account Managers and technical colleagues.
Basic Excel skills and willingness to learn systems such as Bestmix and formulation tools.
A full clean driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites across Ireland.
Previous commercial experience is desirable but not essential. What matters most is technical credibility, customer communication skills and the ability to connect technical advice with customer and business needs.
Location & Details
Location: NI or ROI
Work model: Home-based, with access to an office in Belfast and regular customer visits

What you’ll receive
