Build Relationships. Grow Revenue. Expand Your Potential.
WPHL-TV, Philadelphia’s home for The CW, and Nexstar Media Group are seeking a motivated, results-driven Account Executive to grow advertising revenue by connecting local and national businesses with powerful television and digital marketing solutions.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious sales professional who knows how to develop relationships, uncover business opportunities, and close sales—and who is eager to expand their expertise across today’s evolving advertising landscape.
Step into an opportunity with an established account list and the ability to expand your business by developing new client relationships and growing existing accounts.
You will represent a comprehensive portfolio of advertising solutions, combining the reach and impact of broadcast television with the precision, targeting, and measurement of digital media. From locally produced programming and Action News to connected TV (CTV/OTT), Weather.com, streaming video, digital display, search, social, and other targeted advertising solutions, you will help advertisers reach the right audiences across screens.
We’re looking for a seller—not simply an account manager. The ideal candidate is proactive, competitive, comfortable initiating new business conversations, and motivated to grow revenue by bringing innovative advertising solutions to clients. You should have a solid foundation in sales, a consultative approach to client relationships, and a genuine interest in developing business across both linear television and digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow an established account portfolio: Build on existing client relationships, identify opportunities for increased investment, and develop strategies to expand account revenue.
- Develop new business: Proactively identify, prospect, and secure new advertising clients to expand your portfolio and create additional revenue opportunities.
- Drive revenue growth: Build and execute strategic account plans that achieve sales objectives, increase client investment, and maximize revenue potential.
- Sell integrated advertising solutions: Develop customized campaigns that combine linear television and Nexstar’s digital products to address clients’ marketing objectives.
- Embrace digital advertising: Learn, understand, and confidently present digital capabilities, including CTV/OTT, streaming video, digital display, search, social, Weather.com, Amazon, and other available targeted advertising solutions.
- Lead consultative sales conversations: Ask the right questions, identify client needs, understand business challenges, and translate those insights into effective advertising recommendations.
- Own the sales process: Take opportunities from prospecting and initial presentation through proposal development, negotiation, closing, and ongoing account growth.
- Expand existing business: Introduce additional products, develop integrated campaigns, and identify opportunities to increase the value of client relationships.
- Build lasting client relationships: Establish credibility with business owners, marketing leaders, and other key decision-makers through responsiveness, strategic thinking, and a focus on results.
- Collaborate and innovate: Partner with sales management, digital specialists, and internal teams to develop compelling proposals, strengthen client solutions, and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
- Stay accountable: Maintain an active sales pipeline, manage priorities effectively, and consistently pursue opportunities that contribute to individual and team success.
Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of four years of sales experience preferred, ideally in media, advertising, digital marketing, or a related business-to-business sales environment.
- A demonstrated ability to prospect, develop relationships, present solutions, negotiate, and close business.
- An understanding of the advertising landscape and a willingness to sell across both traditional television and digital platforms.
- A growth mindset and the motivation to continually learn new products, sharpen sales skills, and develop new revenue opportunities.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence engaging business owners, senior executives, and marketing decision-makers.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to work effectively with sales and customer relationship management tools.
- A self-starter mentality, strong work ethic, competitive drive, and commitment to achieving measurable results.
- A bachelor’s degree preferred.
