Account Representative, SMB (West/Central)

The Company

PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years. Creating innovative experiences that make moving money, selling, and shopping simple, personalized, and secure, PayPal empowers consumers and businesses in approximately 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy.

We operate a global, two-sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We help merchants and consumers connect, transact, and complete payments, whether they are online or in person. PayPal is more than a connection to third-party payment networks. We provide proprietary payment solutions accepted by merchants that enable the completion of payments on our platform on behalf of our customers.

We offer our customers the flexibility to use their accounts to purchase and receive payments for goods and services, as well as the ability to transfer and withdraw funds. We enable consumers to exchange funds more safely with merchants using a variety of funding sources, which may include a bank account, a PayPal or Venmo account balance, PayPal and Venmo branded credit products, a credit card, a debit card, certain cryptocurrencies, or other stored value products such as gift cards, and eligible credit card rewards.  Our PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products also make it safer and simpler for friends and family to transfer funds to each other. We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Our beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day.  We live each day guided by our core values of Inclusion, Innovation, Collaboration, and Wellness. Together, our values ensure that we work together as one global team with our customers at the center of everything we do – and they push us to ensure we take care of ourselves, each other, and our communities.

Job Summary:

As PayPal continues its mission to revolutionize commerce, we’re looking for a driven Account Representative to join our Small and Medium Business Sales team, covering West/Central Germany.

Small businesses are the engine of local economies everywhere, and PayPal’s SMB team helps them compete on a bigger stage. In this role, you’ll own the end-to-end commercial relationships for a portfolio of around 200 SMB merchants across the region.

You’ll focus on protecting and growing transaction margin through proactive account management, retention and sales activity. Managing a high-volume portfolio means knowing where to focus your time, spotting opportunities and risks early, and building strong merchant relationships along the way.

Please note that our German headquarters is located in Berlin, so this is a virtual role for candidates based in West/Central Germany.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

• Collaborate internally to influence process quality and efficiency.
• Determine appropriate actions and consider alternative solutions.
• Acquire, manage, and expand relationships with small and medium-sized merchants.
• Use analytical skills and judgment to recommend best solutions.
• Influence through defined processes and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll manage a high-volume portfolio of SMB merchants across West/Central Germany, balancing commercial growth with strong day-to-day relationship management.

• Own and manage the commercial relationship with your merchants, working closely with colleagues across PayPal to deliver strong end-to-end outcomes.
• Use AI-powered tools to spot growth, cross-sell and risk opportunities across your portfolio.
• Keep pipeline, forecast and portfolio health reporting accurate, and share effective practices with fellow Account Representative colleagues.
• Coordinate internal teams to resolve merchant needs and determine the right course of action when standard processes aren’t enough.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you’ll combine strong customer instincts with commercial judgement, organisation and the ability to prioritise effectively.

• Structured and organised, with the ability to plan and segment a large customer portfolio while maintaining strong follow-through and service quality.
• Skilled in customer and commercial conversations — building trust, identifying needs and converting the right opportunities without losing customer focus.
• Comfortable using AI, data and playbooks to make sound trade-offs and escalate at the right time when several priorities require attention.
• A reliable team collaborator who keeps records, pipeline and follow-ups accurate and stays aligned with internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
• Professional fluency in German, enabling you to build strong customer relationships and lead effective commercial conversations.

Nice to Have

• Customer-facing, account-servicing or relationship-management experience.
