Actuarial Intern (Summer 2027)
12-week placement
Location: Edinburgh
Closing date: Monday 9th November 2026
*Assessment for our Actuarial Intern Programmes will take end of November 2026*
We want to help people achieve a lifetime of financial security – even if the unexpected happens. We’ve led the way in innovation that can make people’s financial assets work smarter as well as harder. Our retirement products make planning for the future simple, easy, and fulfilling, while our online technology provides one-stop access to a universe of investment opportunity.
We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Savings, Investments.
We are hiring 6-8 interns to work in the Actuarial department for Summer 2027. This 12-week internship will provide successful candidates with the opportunity to gain a basic knowledge and understanding of actuarial work through hands-on involvement in Aegon UK’s Finance department or wider Investment Solutions team.
Our Finance department is extremely wide-ranging, interacting with just about every area of the business and, of course, with customers.
At the simplest level, one of the most important things we do is ensure that all payments are effectively processed, so people receive the right amount of money on time. There are numerous other functions within finance, including our actuarial team, which ensures that Aegon has the appropriate level of capital and liquidity and the correct management structure in place. The actuaries’ challenge is to ensure that the business is fit for purpose and is delivering the right solutions for investors and customers; they also play an important part in confirming that any information Aegon provides is factual and correct. Ultimately, our responsibility is to make the company as sustainable as possible whilst doing the same for our customers’ investments. Sustainability is at the heart of everything Aegon does – whether it’s reducing our electricity consumption or finding new routes to advertise and market our products.
We’d love to hear from you if you are:
You will be required to work 7 hours per day, Monday to Friday on an hourly rate of £13.45
We believe in hiring for potential. To help us find the best people, we ask all applicants for our Summer Interns to complete a short series of online tasks as the first step in our selection process. This is designed to find out more about you, your skills and natural behaviours. You’ll receive an email from our assessment partner (Arctic Shores) with details and an invitation to complete the tasks. These typically take 20-30mins and can be done on a variety of devices, including your phone.
The legal bits
We’ll need you to confirm you have the right to work in the UK. If we offer you a job and you accept, there are some checks we need to complete before you can start with us. This will include a credit and criminal record check, as well as providing satisfactory references.
We’re committed to embedding Inclusion, Equity and Diversity into everything we do and therefore ask that you let us know of any reasonable adjustments required by you in order to set you up for success.
