Agile Team Lead - Integrations

THE BEST technology CONNECTS MORE THAN SYSTEMS. IT CONNECTS possibilities.

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about building modern integration solutions and leading talented people who share your curiosity for technology?

As our Agile Team Lead, Integrations, you’ll lead the Integrations team within Enterprise Architecture & Data, responsible for developing, supporting, maintaining, and enhancing the integration services and enterprise platforms that keep AMA connected. From APIs and microservices to real-time data pipelines and event-driven architecture, your team will help information move seamlessly across our organization so we can deliver better services and experiences to our members.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll balance people leadership with architecture and development. You’ll establish standards and patterns, collaborate with solution architects, contribute to enterprise architecture decisions, and make sure the solutions your team builds are reliable, secure, scalable, and designed with the future in mind.

And because great technology starts with great people, you’ll create an environment where learning is constant, collaboration is expected, and your team is empowered to experiment, grow, and do their best work.

The Team You’ve Been Looking For
AMA is more than a workplace; it’s a family. Together, we help protect the things that matter most to our more than one-million members—everything from roadside safety to retail savings, food security to childhood well-being. And with operations that span automotive, registries, travel, insurance, and more, the opportunities to grow with us are almost limitless!

Building on a century of proud service in Alberta communities, we’re passionate about making a meaningful difference in the places where we live and work. And that all begins with our people. As part of the AMA team, you’ll enjoy:

• Competitive salary and flexible benefits
• Employer-paid retirement savings program
• Employee-exclusive discounts on travel, insurance, memberships, and more
• Free travel medical insurance for you and your immediate family
• Ongoing professional development
• Paid vacation and personal days, including a Volunteer Day and Me Day
• Flexible work models that make sense for your lifestyle

For us, curiosity fuels innovation. We value people who are eager to explore new ideas and who are comfortable putting emerging technologies into practice. We see experience with AI‑powered tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar platforms as a real plus - especially when it’s used to work smarter, increase efficiency, and find better ways to get things done.

Who You Are

• You’re an experienced leader with integration development at heart.  Agile, SOLID, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture are more than buzzwords to you. They’re how you build.
• You’re a technical leader who can turn complex architecture into clear solutions and explain them just as comfortably to developers as you can to business stakeholders and leaders.
• You bring a DevOps mindset to your work, embracing automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and zero-downtime deployments.
• You’re a creative problem solver. When you hit a roadblock, your first instinct is to understand it, challenge it, and find a better way forward.
• You’re curious about what’s next and comfortable exploring AI agents and other emerging technologies to solve real business challenges.
• You understand how spec-driven development can turn business requirements into clear technical specifications and more consistent, reliable solutions.
• You believe technology is a team sport. You share what you know, invite different perspectives, and know the whole team gets better when people learn from one another.
• You thrive in a culture where learning and development are part of the job, not something squeezed in around it.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Lead the technology and the people behind it. Guide our Integrations team in developing, supporting, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise integration services and platforms while coaching and mentoring your people along the way.
• Build solutions designed to last. Lead the development of reliable integration services that balance business requirements, technical constraints, usability, security, and long-term maintainability.
• Set the standard. Help define and implement integration architecture standards, patterns, tools, and methodologies while working with solution architects on integration designs, architecture diagrams, sequence diagrams, and supporting documentation.
• Shape enterprise architecture. Actively contribute to the Enterprise Architecture Committee and support Intentional Enterprise Architecture initiatives aligned with SAFe, helping create consistency and strategic alignment across teams.
• Bring modern integration to life. Create APIs, real-time data-streaming pipelines, microservices, and event-driven integrations that make it easier and more efficient for systems across AMA to communicate.
• Make quality part of the process. Guide your team in writing well-designed, testable, efficient code using Agile, SOLID, and spec-driven development practices, while ensuring application changes are developed, tested, and implemented in a well-controlled environment.
• Explore what’s next. Lead Proof-of-Concept initiatives and champion AI-driven development, including opportunities to use AI agents to enhance integration, automation, and delivery.
• Connect technology with the business. Build strong partnerships across AMA to understand business needs and priorities and translate them into effective integration solutions.
• Help your team level up. Coach, mentor, and support individual learning paths while creating a culture where collaboration is the norm, knowledge is shared, and mistakes are treated as opportunities to learn. You’ll also handle core leadership responsibilities, including performance reviews and time tracking.
• Keep delivery moving. Work within a Scrum environment featuring two-week sprints, planning, demos, and retrospectives that help the team move work through to completion and continuously improve.

What You Bring to the Table

• A university degree or technical school diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science. Have education in another field? Tell us how it has shaped your career as an IT professional.
• At least 8 years of related application and integration development experience.
• You have experience leading integration development teams using agile/scrum methodologies and SOLID principles.
• Strong experience building relationships with business partners, clients, and technical teams.
• Experience with AI-driven and spec-driven development, or a strong desire to develop your skills in these areas.
• Extensive experience with modern integration technologies and practices, including microservices, APIs, event-driven integrations, and real-time data-streaming pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with technologies such as AWS, AWS Fargate, AWS Lambda, AWS CDK, TypeScript, Git and CI/CD pipelines is essential.

You’ll Get Bonus Points If You Have

• Experience in Java, Node.js, React, and Python is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture concepts, integration patterns, API design, event-driven programming, and business process automation.
• Experience designing or developing AI agents using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore or similar agentic platforms.
• Experience working in a hybrid environment or leading virtual teams.
• Experience mentoring and developing other technical professionals.
