About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to support the Insurance, Pensions & Investments (IP&I) business and play a pivotal role in transforming how the business area works. You’ll help us protect our customers through the modernization of processes and tools – bringing innovation, automation, and advanced analytics to the heart of their decision-making.
You’ll be at the forefront of supporting IP&I to embed automation and Data Science ensuring appropriate controls exist on models and processes, enabling smarter, faster, and more scalable solutions.
As the AI Controls Assistant Manager you will be independently testing, reviewing, providing SME inputs and ensuring appropriate governance is in place for any IP&I AI models ensuring the customer is protected.
Key Responsibilities will include
Support with the development and enhance Data Science / AI models to support customer service, business analysis, risk assessment, and strategic decision-making across the IP&I landscape.
Provide independent testing and assurance of IP&I Data Science and AI models.
Develop, and integrate Data Science use cases into finance models and processes, leveraging advanced analytics to improve forecasting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively, adapting messaging for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborate within a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
Translate data into engaging visualisations and interactive dashboards, using tools such as Power BI or Power Apps to inform decisions and drive insight across IP&I.
Act as a source of professional expertise to evaluate, review, investigate and challenge in order to mitigate any risks with the build and implementation of Data Science solutions.
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, in the office. Although the role will generally work to IST, the nature of the services provided to IP&I means that the successful candidate may be required to work outside of IST on occasion.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a candidate with good skills in either Data Science or Python programming and an ability to learn new skills:
Data Science: Ability to analyse complex datasets, support the build of predictive models, and extract actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. Familiarity with statistical methods and machine learning techniques.
Python Programming: Good proficiency in Python for data manipulation, automation, scripting and developing scalable and maintainable solutions.
Analytical mindset: You’ll bring analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and distil it into clear, actionable insights that support decision-making across the business.
Curiosity and initiative: You’re self-motivated and naturally inquisitive—proactively identifying opportunities for improvement, spotting issues early, and suggesting innovative solutions.
Strong communicator: You’re confident communicating technical concepts to a range of audiences and enjoy working with diverse stakeholders.
Desirable Attributes
Industry Experience: A background in Financial Services and/or Insurance, is highly advantageous.
Experience in designing and deploying low-code applications using Power Apps to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.
Process Transformation: Demonstrated experience in transforming legacy processes through automation, modern tooling, or data-driven approaches to improve efficiency and insight.
Experience of supporting the development and testing of controls to ensure customers are protected.
Agile Ways of Working: Familiarity with agile delivery environments, including working within cross-functional teams to deliver iterative improvements and respond to evolving business needs.
