At Basata, we’re rethinking the way healthcare practices get work done. Our AI-powered tools help automate the repetitive, time-consuming tasks that bog teams down, so staff can spend less time on admin and more time with patients.
We’re a small, fast-moving team that loves building smart systems and simple, intuitive experiences. If you’re someone who gets excited about early-stage energy, designing better ways to work, and fixing what’s broken in healthcare, we’d love to connect.
Basata builds AI agents that answer patient calls and process inbound clinical documents for cardiology and urology practices. Every deployment is different: a different EMR, a different set of fax lines, a different way of deciding who gets to schedule what. The AI Workflow Engineer is the person who works that out and makes it real.
You will run multiple customer implementations concurrently, each with its own phases, gates and stakeholders. The work is roughly split between project management and process design — where the balance shifts week to week.
Own customer implementation projects (simultaneously) end to end, from contract handoff through go-live and the stabilization period that follows
Manage internal & external stakeholders through a project’s lifecycle
Regularly report status updates and provide clear communication to internal and external teams
Run each project against defined phase gates, and hold the gate — a phase does not close because the date arrived
Provide feedback to current program & project management office to continuously refine best practices and standardization
Walk the current-state process on site — at the desk, with the people doing the work, not from a description of it
Map workflows as swimlane process maps and validate them with the staff who will live with the result
Diagnose why a process fails before designing the replacement, using data rather than the first plausible explanation
Translate what you find into agent configuration, routing rules, extraction fields and escalation paths
Own defect triage during testing, and decide what ships, what waits, and what was never in scope
Run kickoff, discovery, UAT and training sessions with audiences that range from front-desk staff to physician owners
Set expectations honestly, including when something will not work the way it was hoped
Deliver the post-go-live review with the data to back it up
5+ years in program management, implementation, process improvement, business analysis or a comparable delivery role
Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
A track record of running concurrent projects with real deadlines and real stakeholders, not just contributing to them
Demonstrated structured problem solving: you can show how you found a root cause rather than how you fixed a symptom
Direct customer-facing experience, meeting the customers/patients needs
Comfort with ambiguity — early deployments do not come with a runbook, they produce one
This role requires travel.
This is not a software engineer - you will not be writing production code, though you will read configuration and work closely with engineers. This is not a pure project management role either - you produce the plan by understanding the process.
Lean/Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
Background in health tech, digital health, or practice management software
EMR platform familiarity (NextGen, ModMed, AthenaOne, Veradigm. eClinicalWorks or similar)
Drive real impact. Your work will help clinics run more smoothly and ensure patients get the care they need—faster and with fewer headaches.
Shape something meaningful. From early product decisions to UI details, you'll play a big role in crafting both the code and the overall user experience.
High ownership. Join a team where you’re trusted to lead, build, think critically, and bring ideas to life.
Work with purpose. We’re not here to throw more tech at the wall, we're solving real problems in healthcare with tools that people rely on every day.
We earn trust every day
We build trust through honesty, consistency, and respect in every interaction. We do what we say we will do and act with integrity toward our team, customers, and patients.
We find a way
We stay curious, resourceful, and persistent when the path forward is not obvious. We look beyond the first answer and keep working until we find a solution that serves the mission.
We take action today
We recognize that our mission requires us to act now, not wait for perfect conditions. We move quickly with clear purpose, focusing our energy on the actions that create meaningful progress.
We own the finish line
We take responsibility for outcomes, not only our individual tasks. We communicate openly, follow through on commitments, and stay engaged until work is truly complete.
We do bold things
We are willing to question assumptions, take thoughtful risks, and pursue bold ideas that have meaningful impact. We bring courage and conviction to the work while remaining open to learning.
