Our Applied Data Science team turns dunnhumby’s analytical capability into real commercial impact for our clients. Working directly with retailers and brands, we design and deliver the models, algorithms and insights that answer the hardest questions in retail — from personalisation and basket analysis to pricing, promotions and customer loyalty. Every insight we produce is grounded in real customer data and built to make a measurable difference.

 

About the Role

We’re looking for an Applied Data Science Manager who expects more from their career. You will be based in our São Paulo office, leading and developing a team of Applied Data Scientists across Brazil and India. In this role, you will leverage the best of data science, advanced analytics, AI, and human creativity to transform complex business challenges into compelling insights and impactful solutions for retailers and CPG companies.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with clients to help them identify the right problems and shaping, scoping, and successfully delivering our services and solutions to them through AI and data science while working alongside super-smart colleagues across dunnhumby, challenging and rewriting the rules, not just following them

 

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead, develop, and inspire a team of Applied Data Scientists, fostering a high-performance culture built on quality, collaboration, continuous learning, experimentation, and accountability.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients and internal stakeholders, communicating complex analytical concepts clearly and influencing decision-making through evidence-based insights.
• Partner with client and internal teams to shape and scope new opportunities, translating commercial challenges into scalable data science, analytics, and AI solutions that deliver measurable business value.
• Apply agile ways of working to plan, prioritize, and deliver analytics and data science initiatives, promoting collaboration, iterative development, continuous improvement, and effective delivery.
• Collaborate with global teams to bring the best of dunnhumby's science capabilities to clients leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning, AI, and emerging data sources to develop innovative and differentiated solutions that drive measurable business impact.
• Promote and scale a culture of reuse by leveraging existing dunnhumby science assets, frameworks, modules, and code wherever possible, while packaging new innovations for adoption across global markets.

 

 

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing teams, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
• Demonstrated success managing the end-to-end delivery of analytics and data science initiatives, with a strong focus on quality, scalability, and reusability.
• Knowledge of agile methodologies and experience applying agile principles to deliver analytics, data science, or technology projects.
• Stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships.
• A structured and analytical approach to problem-solving, capable of translating complex business challenges into pragmatic and actionable solutions.
• Knowledge of customer behaviour and insights, category management, pricing, promotions, loyalty programs, and retail media within pharmacy and health-related retail environments.
• Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning, and advanced analytical techniques.
• Experience with modern data science and big data technologies, including Python, SQL, Spark, Hadoop, and AI-enabled tools and platforms.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies.
• Advanced English and Portuguese proficiency.
