Development of an RNA Knowledge Graph for Therapeutic Target Prioritization

Context:
RNA is emerging as a major therapeutic modality, driving the development of innovative approaches such as RNA-targeting small molecules, antisense oligonucleotides, and RNA editing therapies.

The objective of this project is to develop an RNA-focused Knowledge Graph by integrating information from multiple public RNA resources. This platform will support Evotec's internal RNA druggability assessment application, helping scientists prioritize promising therapeutic targets. It will also serve as a strategic foundation for future RNA-focused research and data science initiatives.

Missions:
The intern will actively participate in the following project stages:

• Identifying and evaluating relevant RNA data sources.
• Designing and implementing an RNA Knowledge Graph using Neo4j.
• Developing Python pipelines to extract, transform, and integrate heterogeneous biological datasets.
• Harmonizing and validating integrated data.
• Developing graph queries and analyses to support RNA target prioritization.
• Integrating the Knowledge Graph with the internal RNA druggability assessment platform.
• Contributing to technical decisions and project documentation.

Required Skills:

• Strong interest in bioinformatics, data integration, and scientific software development.
• Good programming skills in Python.
• Knowledge of SQL and database technologies.
• Interest in graph databases and knowledge representation.
• Familiarity with Neo4j is a plus.
• Understanding of molecular biology, genomics, transcriptomics, or RNA biology is advantageous.
• Experience with Git and collaborative software development practices.
• Strong analytical mindset, autonomy, and scientific rigor.
• Professional English proficiency is a plus.
