Assistant Scientist
The University of Miami/Uhealth Department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Associate Scientist to work at the UHealth Medical Campus.
Core Job Summary
The Assistant Scientist, SOM (A) carries out a particular research agenda in support of the University’s research goals and objectives. Moreover, the Assistant Scientist, SOM (A) contributes to the scientific community by publishing research findings and promotes the University’s reputation as a leader in the field.
Core Responsibilities
Contributes to basic and applied research activities and authors scientific publications, technical and agency reports, and patent preparations.
Collaborates with senior staff to publish findings in refereed journals.
Creates and conducts experiments and analyzes results.
Works with other researchers to use and develop end products.
Writes extramural proposals with approval from appropriate senior staff.
Provides ready access to all experimental data for managing staff.
Requests or acquires equipment and supplies for assigned project(s).
Uses the internet, surveys, legal documents, and other available sources to collect information.
Applies for grants to continue research and prepares materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
The Department of Neurology EMBI full-time Assistant Scientist contributes to research activities along with principal investigators of the EMBI, or designee of the principal investigator.
Conduct and coordinate cognitive research studies for MBI.
Performs specialized and complex procedures related to a wide range of MBI research studies /sub-studies.
Develops, writes and publishes significant research results.
Conduct informed consent, neuropsychological evaluations and exams, bio-physical measurements, ultrasound scans and readings, study documentation according to IRB and HIPPA.
Ensures study participants are provided in-person instructions for computer testing.
Assists the project manager with report forms, database input, Redcap,and IRB compliance
Performs specialized and complex procedures related to a wide range of research studies /sub studies.
Advances expertise through education, training, and research.
Presenting at Neurology appropriate conferences and symposiums.
Participates in training sessions and workshops.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Core Qualifications
Ph.D., M.D. or other doctoral level degree relevant field
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience research experience
Phlebotomist, Ultrasound Tech Preferred but Not Required
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
