What We Do
We’re on a mission to empower veterinary professionals with opportunities to achieve greater flexibility in their careers while helping animal hospitals provide care for more pets in their communities.
Powered by groundbreaking technology, Roo has built the leading veterinary staffing and careers platform, connecting Vets, Techs, and Veterinary Assistants with practices for relief support, full-time hiring, and free continuing education. Roo empowers the largest network of over 30,000 veterinary professionals to earn and learn on their schedule, helping Veterinarians earn over $400 million. Together, we’ve provided more than 5 million hours of coverage at over 10,000 animal hospitals.
Land a Job You Know You’ll Love
More then 500 Veterinarians and Technicians have found part or full-time roles they love using Relief-to-Hire® to test-drive hiring hospitals and find the one that's a perfect fit.
About the Role
Experience a better way to find your dream job. Instead of deciding where you'll spend years of your life from a best-foot forward interview, why not work real shifts at hospitals that are hiring, experience how they run on good days (and the hectic ones), and get paid for every shift you work along the way?
Introducing a better way to hire where you get to test the fit during relief shifts before you commit to anything long term. So by the time you sign your contract, you know it's a great culture fit.
How it works
- Create a free Roo account and let us know you're actively looking for part- or full-time work when you create your profile.
- Test the fit during relief shifts: Complete relief shifts to discover hospitals that are a good culture fit.
- Roo plays matchmaker: Once you’ve found a hospital you love, we’ll reach out to the hospital to confirm their interest.
- Land your dream job & celebrate: Negotiate your contract with the hospital directly, then connect with us to manage any outstanding shifts.
- If you and the hospital agree it's a fit, accept the offer. If not, keep exploring on your timeline.
Why Vets choose Relief-to-Hire
- Test the fit before you commit. Sample a variety of hospitals to get a real taste of clinic culture, caseload, and team before you are hired. Roo is free for Vets and there is no commitment until you accept an offer.
- Bank extra income while you explore. Get paid to try out hiring hospitals, gain experience, and grow your network
- Career support when you need it. We’ll promote you to hospitals you like and politely decline offers when you’re not interested.
- No new job jitters. Confidently leap into a new role familiar with your new hospital’s team, clients, and workflows.
What you'll need
- An active veterinary license in good standing in the state(s) where you plan to work.
- Clinical experience in general practice, emergency, or a specialty.
- Openness to working a few relief shifts at a hospital before accepting a role there.
