This is a remote opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst to support the design, enhancement, and delivery of technology solutions within the mortgage and real estate finance industry.
The role sits within agile teams and works closely with Product Owners, Senior Business Analysts, developers, QA professionals, and business stakeholders.
You will translate complex business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, and designs that guide development and testing.
The position offers meaningful ownership across requirements gathering, sprint delivery, UAT, demonstrations, and ongoing system improvements.
You will help identify process inefficiencies, anticipate technical or operational challenges, and contribute to solutions that improve user and business outcomes.
Success requires strong mortgage and secondary-market knowledge combined with analytical thinking, organization, communication, and technology skills.

Accountabilities:
- Collect, review, analyze, and document business and system requirements, using stakeholder feedback, usage data, surveys, and other sources to validate and strengthen requirements.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Senior Business Analysts, application analysts, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, priorities, timelines, and delivery plans.
- Translate business requirements into detailed functional designs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and documentation that support development, testing, and implementation.
- Participate actively in agile delivery cycles, helping teams prepare for and complete sprints while tracking assigned projects, priorities, dependencies, and deliverables.
- Support QA and user acceptance testing by assisting with test preparation, reviewing results, identifying issues and roadblocks, and communicating progress and outcomes to stakeholders and management.
- Assist with product demonstrations and sprint reviews, ensuring new functionality is clearly presented and aligned with business expectations.
- Investigate system usage, including overrides, exceptions, validation handling, recurring errors, and areas of excessive processing time, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Anticipate potential problems and roadblocks, proactively communicate risks or delays, and help develop practical solutions before issues affect delivery.
- Participate in cross-system discussions and quality initiatives to promote consistency, integration, and effective collaboration across technology teams.
- Handle day-to-day business and system requests while supporting departmental goals, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, and completing assigned initiatives within required timeframes.
- Adjust plans and priorities as project requirements, scope, or business needs evolve, while maintaining clear communication with affected stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and perform other related responsibilities as needed to support organizational objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience, typically gained in a Business Analyst, Senior Analyst, QA Analyst, Technology Analyst, or comparable role.
- More than 5 years of experience within mortgage, mortgage technology, secondary markets, or a closely related financial-services environment.
- Strong understanding of mortgage banking and/or secondary-market processes; formal training or education in finance or mortgage banking is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into actionable functional specifications, user stories, and technology solutions.
- Experience supporting software development and QA processes within an agile environment, including UAT, testing, issue tracking, sprint delivery, and stakeholder communications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to investigate system behavior, identify root causes, and anticipate potential operational or technical challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, constructive, and diplomatic feedback to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with a professional, dependable, and team-oriented approach.
- Advanced computer literacy and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, as well as web-based systems and visual communication tools.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing requirements effectively.
- Previous experience as a QA or Technology Analyst in a comparable organization is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with managers, project teams, and business stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel on a limited basis and maintain a flexible schedule when business needs require it.
Benefits:
- Annual base salary range of $80,000–$100,000, with final compensation determined based on experience, education, training, skills, geographic location, and market considerations.
