ROLE SUMMARYJob Summary:**
The Clinical Engineering Technician (CET) is responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and repair of medical equipment within Netcare Hospitals, ensuring optimal functionality and patient safety.
Job Responsibilities:**
* Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety inspections on a wide range of medical devices, including but not limited to, vital signs monitors, defibrillators, ventilators, infusion pumps, and surgical equipment.
* Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex equipment malfunctions, utilizing schematics, service manuals, and specialized test equipment.
* Document all maintenance, repairs, and calibration activities accurately and comprehensively in the designated asset management system.
* Conduct regular performance verification and calibration of medical equipment to comply with manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards.
* Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new medical equipment.
* Provide technical support and training to clinical staff on the safe and effective operation of medical devices.
* Collaborate with clinical departments, manufacturers, and vendors to resolve equipment-related issues.
* Participate in on-call rotations to provide emergency technical support as required.
* Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and quality assurance procedures.
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Job Qualifications:**
* Diploma or Degree in Clinical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Clinical Engineering Technician in a hospital setting.
* Proven experience with the maintenance and repair of a diverse range of medical equipment.
* Strong understanding of electrical and electronic principles, as well as medical terminology.
* Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Valid driver's license may be required.
* Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., ECSA) is advantageous.
