These services are delivered through automated critical data pipelines.
The Operations team works closely with the Data & Analytics Engineering team, which provides L3 engineering support, problem fixes, and pipeline re‑engineering. As Data Operations Engineer, you will focus on run and operational assurance, while collaborating with Engineering to ensure smooth handover of changes into production support.

Perform day-to-day administration of supported AWS data platform services, including workflow monitoring, job restarts, scheduling validation, access requests, configuration updates, and environment health checks.
Support operational administration of Amazon MWAA environments, S3-based data lake services, AWS Glue jobs and catalogues, Lake Formation permissions, IAM access controls, Athena query access, SageMaker operational support, Bedrock access enablement, and DataZone governance processes.
Support platform patching, upgrades, and controlled releases using approved runbooks, change records, and deployment windows.
Execute backup, restore, and recovery procedures in accordance with documented operational and disaster recovery processes.
Non-Functional Testing & Operational Readiness
Execute operations-led non-functional testing to validate production readiness and manage operational risk across the AWS Data Platform.
Validate performance, throughput, batch window adherence, restartability, recoverability, monitoring effectiveness, and operational supportability before and after change implementation.
Support validation of resilience and recoverability for orchestrated data pipelines, S3-based datasets, Iceberg table operations, metadata and access controls, and platform observability.
Document non-functional testing outcomes, risks, and follow-up actions in Jira and operational artefacts.
IT Service Management & Governance
Use ServiceNow as the system of record for incidents, problems, changes and requests and Confluence for knowledge management.
Maintain high-quality operational records, including incident updates, post-incident reviews, and known-error documentation.
Contribute to service reporting, including platform health, incident trends, recurring control weaknesses, operational risks, and improvement opportunities.
Support compliance with security, access governance, data governance, and Business Continuity Management requirements.
Documentation & Knowledge Management positive change
Create, maintain, and improve runbooks, standard operating procedures, escalation guides, recovery documentation, and service support artefacts for AWS-hosted data platform services.
Work with Platform and Data Engineering teams to ensure engineering changes are supported with appropriate operational documentation, monitoring, access controls, and recovery procedures prior to acceptance into production support.
