This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Database Administrator based in Brazil.
This is a fully remote opportunity supporting mission-critical Oracle database environments for a U.S.-based client in the pharmaceutical industry.
The role focuses on production database administration, performance, reliability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
You’ll work hands-on with Oracle 12c–19c while contributing to upgrades, migrations, ETL processes, and database optimization.
The position also provides exposure to PostgreSQL and MongoDB within a distributed international technical environment.
You’ll collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders to resolve complex database challenges and maintain reliable systems.
This role is well suited to an experienced DBA who combines strong technical expertise with analytical thinking and independent execution.
It offers the opportunity to work on long-term projects while supporting highly important systems from anywhere in Latin America.
Accountabilities:
- Provide day-to-day production support and administration for Oracle databases, ensuring reliability and availability.
- Monitor database health, performance, capacity, and overall operational status.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve database incidents and production issues efficiently.
- Perform database performance tuning, including SQL query optimization, index management, and server/database configuration.
- Develop, maintain, modify, and manage SQL queries, database objects, and structures.
- Participate in Oracle database upgrades, migrations, and related technical initiatives, including 12c-to-19c upgrades.
- Support data migration and ETL processes, ensuring data is transferred and processed reliably.
- Work with PostgreSQL and MongoDB environments when required.
- Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and other technical stakeholders to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
- Follow established best practices for database security, reliability, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and change management.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement, automation, monitoring, and operational efficiency of database environments.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, with significant production-support experience.
- Advanced English proficiency at approximately B2/C1 level, with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English.
- Native Spanish or Portuguese proficiency.
- Strong SQL expertise, including querying, creating, modifying, and managing database structures.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Database 12c–19c.
- Experience with Oracle database upgrades, particularly migrations from 12c to 19c, is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, including SQL queries, indexes, and server/database configuration.
- Experience with data migration and ETL processes.
- Knowledge or hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/Postgres SQL.
- Knowledge or hands-on experience with MongoDB.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a distributed, international environment.
- Experience in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, biotechnology, or financial services is a plus.
- Experience supporting high-availability or mission-critical production environments is a plus.
- Familiarity with backup/recovery, disaster recovery, high-availability solutions, cloud-based databases, monitoring, or automation tools is advantageous.
