Database Administrator V

The Senior Database Administrator (Sr. DBA) provides enterprise‑level database engineering and sustainment for the client system. This role is responsible for DB2 database lifecycle management, including schema design, performance tuning, resilience engineering, backup/recovery operations, and ensuring data integrity across all environments. The Sr. DBA collaborates with infrastructure, middleware, and cybersecurity teams to maintain reliable system performance, support cross‑stack integration, and uphold mission‑critical availability requirements.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

The ability to obtain, maintain and access classified information at the Secret level. 

Must support Air Force cybersecurity directives, including IAVA, TCNO, NOTAM implementation and verification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Perform full lifecycle database engineering for DB2 environments, including schema design, indexing strategy, tuning, and query optimization to ensure system performance and scalability.
• Administer database backup, restore, and recovery operations, ensuring secure and resilient data availability.
• Maintain and validate database configuration baselines, ensuring alignment with approved engineering changes and Air Force sustainment directives.
• Ensure data integrity and consistency across development, test, and production environments.
• Support cross‑stack integration between DB2, WebSphere middleware, and underlying infrastructure components.
• Collaborate with system administrators and software engineers to troubleshoot and resolve database‑related issues affecting application performance.
• Develop and maintain database documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration records, and sustainment procedures.
• Participate in engineering reviews, patch validation events, and readiness assessments to ensure database components meet required performance and security expectations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience of twelve (12+) years related experience
