Remote only
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer – Java/React based in Brazil.
Join a highly technical, collaborative team building impactful software solutions through modern development practices and continuous innovation. As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you will deliver end-to-end features across Java backend services and React frontend applications, contributing to strategic projects with meaningful business impact. You will participate in architectural decisions, design scalable integrations, and evolve data persistence across relational and non-relational databases. Working within a microservices ecosystem that also connects with legacy systems, you will help solve complex engineering challenges and improve production reliability. AI-assisted development is an integral part of the team's workflow, offering opportunities to apply emerging tools thoughtfully while maintaining rigorous quality standards. This fully remote opportunity is structured for independent contractors and is also open to professionals with disabilities.
Participate in platform architecture decisions, document technical rationale, and contribute informed recommendations to engineering discussions.
Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end features using Java for backend development and React for frontend applications.
Implement synchronous and asynchronous integration layers to support reliable communication between services and external systems.
Build and maintain microservices that integrate with legacy platforms and monolithic applications.
Model, develop, and optimize data persistence solutions using relational and non-relational databases.
Implement messaging and asynchronous processing workflows using appropriate technologies and architectural patterns.
Write and maintain automated tests, participate in code reviews, and uphold software quality standards.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in production environments, improving system stability and performance.
Use AI-assisted development tools effectively, critically review generated code, and apply sound engineering judgment to ensure correctness, security, and maintainability.
Integrate third-party APIs and ensure reliable data exchange across connected systems.
Collaborate closely with a small, cross-functional team, sharing technical context and supporting the development of less experienced colleagues.
Balance technical quality with delivery priorities, contributing to continuous improvement and practical engineering solutions.
Strong professional experience in software development, including responsibility for applications and features deployed to production.
Advanced hands-on proficiency in Java for backend development and React for frontend development, with the autonomy to deliver across both areas.
Experience with Docker and containerization, plus familiarity with deploying applications to Microsoft Azure.
Strong knowledge of relational databases, including data modeling, querying, and performance optimization.
Practical experience with asynchronous processing and messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, or Apache Kafka.
Experience with non-relational databases and the ability to assess when they are appropriate for specific use cases.
Daily experience with AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent solutions, including the judgment to recognize when AI accelerates development and when its output requires correction or should not be used.
Experience consuming and integrating third-party APIs.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, overcome technical blockers, and seek support when appropriate.
A quality-focused mindset that balances technical rigor with practical delivery timelines.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, particularly in a small-team environment where shared context and close coordination are essential.
Genuine curiosity about applying AI to product development and improving engineering workflows.
Nice to have:
Experience delivering healthcare-related projects involving sensitive data and compliance with Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD).
Experience developing products at the minimum viable product (MVP) stage.
Familiarity with legacy systems and monolithic architectures.
Experience working with both Azure and AWS cloud environments.
Fully remote work arrangement within the opportunity's Brazil-based scope.
Independent-contractor engagement under a legal entity (Pessoa Jurídica/PJ) arrangement.
Opportunity to contribute to strategic projects with technical autonomy and meaningful business impact.
Collaborative engineering environment focused on innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
Exposure to AI-assisted development practices and modern software engineering technologies.
Opportunity to participate in architectural decisions and influence technical direction.
Inclusive environment that welcomes professionals with disabilities and emphasizes diversity, respect, and ethical collaboration.
