Job Description Summary
The Design Engineer – Power Electronics is accountable for the electrical design and development of power electronics valves within reactive power compensation systems, including STATCOM and SVC solutions. The KPIs linked with the role are design quality, on-time delivery of engineering outputs, and technical accuracy against project specifications.
The Design Engineer contributes to the execution of assigned delivery projects by working closely with lead engineers, sourcing teams, procurement teams, and quality teams to bring technically sound and commercially viable solutions to GE Vernova's global customers. A 'power electronics valve' in this context is a baselined hardware assembly based on thyristor and IGBT technologies, designed in accordance with best engineering practices from previous projects. The valve design encompasses all key elements; electrical, thermal, and mechanical.
The role encompasses the entire project lifecycle of power electronics valves, from pre-tender technical support and supplier engagement through to commissioning and validation testing at the substation level. The Design Engineer works in close collaboration with suppliers to ensure components meet technical specifications, and with the quality team to maintain design integrity and compliance throughout the project execution.
