In this role, you'll lead a full-service department operating at the scale and complexity of a mid-sized municipality: overseeing plan reviews, permitting, inspections, code interpretation, staff development, and budget management across a broad portfolio of campus construction, renovation, and infrastructure projects, while partnering with architects, engineers, contractors, and university leadership to keep one of the nation's largest and most active campuses building safely and compliantly.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and state requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience. Must have State of Florida certification as a Building Code Administrator. Must hold State of Florida certification and licensure as a Standard Plans Examiner in at least two (2) of the following disciplines: Building, Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Public Administration, Building Construction, or a related field.
• Florida Building Official certification.

• Experience serving as a Building Official, Chief Building Official, or Building Department leader within a public-sector, municipal, higher education, or similarly complex organization.
• Experience overseeing building permitting, inspections, plans review, and code compliance programs.
• Experience leading and developing professional and technical staff, including licensed code professionals.
• Experience managing departmental budgets, fee structures, and operational resources.
• Experience interpreting and applying Florida Building Code and related state regulations.
• Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and executive leadership.
• Experience supporting large-scale capital construction, renovation, and infrastructure projects.
