Company Overview
Amperesand is reinventing how the world powers its most critical systems.
We are facing a once-in-a-generation opportunity for infrastructure disruption. Electricity demand is skyrocketing, driven by AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth. Energy supply is shifting to incorporate a more diverse mix of resources – including solar, gas, and batteries – at a massive scale.
And yet the power infrastructure behind our latest mega-projects hasn’t meaningfully changed in nearly 100 years. Supply chains for today’s infrastructure equipment can’t match the pace and sophistication of critical energy projects. Amperesand is building hardware and software that rewrites this broken power infrastructure playbook to support a new era of energy abundance.
We’ve built a new class of intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products leveraging a decade of advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer research that’s now ready for commercial deployment.
Our products and solutions go far beyond the capabilities of traditional electrical equipment. We make power systems that are faster to deploy, dramatically smaller and more efficient, and capable of supporting modern, dynamic energy needs for tomorrow’s most demanding energy consumers.
Scalable in-house advanced manufacturing capability is our foundation for meeting timeline and quality expectation to serve infrastructure customers around the world.
Amperesand is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top tier investors who share our vision of building a category-defining energy technology company.
With hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, our global team is laser focused on building foundational technology to solve the most pressing problems in power infrastructure at scale.
Join us in building the power foundation of the future!
Role Summary

This role plays a critical part in the development and launch of new products and systems, requiring a blend of craftsmanship, technical acumen, and team collaboration. The ideal candidate has a passion for building, testing, and refining electro-mechanical systems in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Assemble electro-mechanical systems, pilot equipment, and new product builds (NPI) with a high degree of precision and quality.
Support installation, wiring, and commissioning of manufacturing and pilot equipment, including conveyors, fixtures, and automation platforms.
Perform manual fabrication of brackets, fixtures, and wiring harnesses; including soldering, crimping, and machining tasks.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and work instructions to guide builds and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with engineers on prototype iterations, test fixture development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist in product and process validation activities, including execution of qualification protocols and data collection.
Operate lab tools and test equipment (meters, scopes, DAQs) to verify system performance and identify faults.
Document assembly procedures, test results, findings, and provide clear feedback on potential design improvements.
Maintain organization of the lab and tool spaces, support shipping/logistics and manage incoming parts and prototype inventory.
Ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols, especially when working with high-voltage or mechanical systems.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
4–5+ years of experience in assembly, testing, or support of electro-mechanical equipment or NPI builds.
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, shear, breaker, hydraulic press, and manual fabrication techniques; machine shop experience is a plus.
Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, including ability to troubleshoot and rework.
Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and interpreting technical drawings.
Demonstrated ability to read and work from electromechanical diagrams or multi-discipline engineering documentation.
Experience contributing to design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews and feedback loops with engineering teams.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand or bend for extended periods, and operate safely in an industrial lab setting.
Communicate collaboratively across cross-functional teams
Familiarity with PLC systems, HMI/SCADA, Python, or data analysis tools is a plus.
Bonus Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in a technical discipline (e.g., mechanical, electrical, manufacturing technology) or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
Proficiency in 3D EXPERIENCE, CATIA, and SolidWorks for interpreting and working with complex CAD models.
Strong foundation in electrical systems and controls
Experience with medium-voltage (5 kV to 36 kV) systems, and power electronics.
Prior experience in NPI builds, pilot lines, or early-stage product validation.
Experience working in Agile development environments, including task management and sprint planning using Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira.
