Job Summary
The Global Equinix Operations Center (EOC) operates 24/7/365, focusing on incident management, infrastructure alarm monitoring, and security oversight.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Monitoring Specialist to join our team. As a Monitoring Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and security of our data center infrastructure. This position requires expertise in monitoring systems, key stakeholder and customer engagement and ideally with a strong background in data centers, security or monitoring - working 10 hours day shifts in a global "Follow the Sun" roster.

With a supportive team and management structure the successful candidate will have the opportunity to flourish in the role, and provide crucial support to our data centers.

Key responsibilities:
System Monitoring

• 24x7x365 monitoring of Data Center security and infrastructure alarms

Documentation & Processing

• Ensures timely and accurate input of access information into access control system
• Processes inbound access requests from customers, carriers, and our sites
• Dispatches service requests, trouble and alarm tickets

Technical Expertise

• Builds familiarity with BMS systems, security access control systems, and basic data center infrastructure
• Has working knowledge of security best practices

Systems Support & Maintenance

• Processes inbound alerts from essential systems and network elements
• Provides timely response to all access and CCTV related alarms
• Processes site maintenance and outage notifications

Problem Solving

• Ability to identify and resolve, or report, a detected problem
• Escalates trouble cases and emergencies as needed to lead and/or management personnel

Training and Project Management and quality assurance

• Receives guidance and support from others
• Follows instructions on departmental projects
• Assists with basic QA and escalates trouble cases to lead and/or management as needed

Qualifications, key skills and attributes:

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to escalate issues when necessary
• Ability to communicate effectively in English  to support global data center operations
• Familiarity with monitoring systems from data centers or relevant industries
• Ability to commit to a 24/7/365 roster shared between the team
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with the confidence to triage incidents using sound judgement
