Job Description

Farm Family Territory Leader – The Great State of Nebraska!

Build your territory. Grow the network. Help shape what comes next.

This is a unique time to join Farm Family.

We are evolving our P&C distribution strategy from an exclusive model to an independent agency model, creating an exciting opportunity for experienced distribution professionals to help build our presence in the independent marketplace from the ground up.

As a Farm Family Territory Leader, you won't simply inherit a mature territory and maintain an established book. You'll have the opportunity to build your own territory, develop new independent agency partnerships, and become a trusted subject matter expert for our flagship product offering.

Think about the opportunity: a large territory, an evolving distribution channel, and the ability to help build what comes next.

If you're currently working in P&C distribution, successfully prospecting and developing independent agency relationships and growing commercial business, we'd especially like to hear from you.

What You'll Do:

As a Farm Family Territory Leader, you'll be responsible for driving profitable P&C growth across your territory through strong independent distribution partnerships. You'll combine business development, relationship management, market expertise, and strategic territory planning to expand Farm Family's presence and compete for market share.

Build & Expand Your Territory

• Identify and prospect new independent P&C distribution partners throughout your territory.
• Build new agency relationships and formalize partnerships through a structured contracting and appointment process.
• Leverage your existing market knowledge and agency relationships to identify new opportunities for growth.
• Build your territory from the ground up as Farm Family expands its independent distribution model.
• Establish yourself as a trusted subject matter expert and strategic partner to the agencies you serve.

Grow Strong Agency Partnerships

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with independent distribution partners, aligning business objectives and identifying opportunities for profitable growth.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for distribution partners throughout your territory.
• Conduct agency visits and business reviews to assess progress, discuss performance trends, and strengthen relationships.
• Bring agency and market insights back into the organization to continually improve the distribution partner experience.

Compete & Win in the Market

• Position Farm Family as a preferred provider for commercial lines and agribusiness P&C products within the territory.
• Represent and grow our flagship product offering within the independent agency marketplace.
• Actively compete for new agency relationships, business, and market share.
• Communicate product changes, opportunities, and company objectives to agency partners.
• Partner closely with Product and Underwriting to identify opportunities and drive profitable growth.

Own Your Territory Strategy

• Develop and execute strategic, data-driven business plans to achieve production and profitability goals.
• Create sales and marketing strategies based on the unique opportunities within your market.
• Monitor business performance and market trends and use those insights to continuously refine your strategy.
• Operate with significant independence and latitude to determine how best to develop and grow your territory.

Partner Across the Business

• Collaborate with the Regional Field Executive, P&C Distribution Territory Leader, Product, Underwriting, and other internal partners on product, pricing, marketing, and distribution strategies.
• Consult with field and internal partners to identify needs, develop business solutions, and share industry and market insights.
• Partner with the Annuity Distribution team to support annuity production goals within the territory.

Represent Farm Family

• Represent Farm Family at industry forums, conferences, and associations.
• Build visibility for Farm Family and strengthen our position within the independent agency marketplace.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced P&C distribution professional who understands the independent agency marketplace, knows how to open doors, and is excited about building a territory.

You'll bring:

• Experience working with independent P&C distribution partners.
• Demonstrated experience prospecting, developing, and appointing new agency relationships.
• Strong commercial lines P&C experience.
• Experience partnering with Product and Underwriting to drive profitable growth.
• Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills.
• The ability to operate independently, develop a territory strategy, and turn market opportunities into profitable growth.
• Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.

Experience That Will Set You Apart:

• An established network within the independent agency marketplace.
• Farm, ranch, or agribusiness P&C experience.
• Industry designations such as CIC, CLCS, or AFIS.

Who Will Thrive Here

You may be a great fit if you're already in the market selling through independent agencies, prospecting and signing new agency partners, and driving commercial P&C growth.

Our strongest candidates will bring experience in:

Independent agency distribution → Commercial P&C → Agribusiness / farm & ranch

This position is not focused on crop insurance, and candidates whose backgrounds have been primarily concentrated in personal lines may not have the commercial distribution experience needed for this opportunity.

Why This Opportunity Is Different

This is an opportunity to build, not simply maintain.

Farm Family is moving from an exclusive to an independent distribution model, giving our Territory Leaders the opportunity to help establish and grow these markets from the ground up. You'll have a large territory, meaningful autonomy, and the opportunity to become a true subject matter expert and trusted partner to your agencies.

You'll have clear production and profitability goals, while also having the latitude to use your experience, relationships and knowledge of the market to determine how best to grow your territory.

For the right person, that's the exciting part: build your own territory, expand your network, and help shape the future of a new distribution channel.

Compensation & Resources

We are targeting a base salary in the $130,000 range, along with an annual incentive opportunity of approximately 25%.

The role also includes resources designed to support you in the field, including:

• Company vehicle
• Gas card
• Corporate credit card
