This is a customer-facing technical role focused on RF and Microwave solutions, combining engineering expertise with strategic sales support.
You will serve as a subject matter expert, helping customers select components and translate complex technical requirements into effective system solutions.
The role spans the full customer journey, from pre-sales design support and demand creation through post-sales technical engagement.
You will influence customer designs, identify opportunities to expand product adoption, and maximize technical and commercial value across accounts.
Working closely with sales teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, you will bring the voice of the customer into product and business decisions.
The environment is collaborative and commercially driven, with exposure to strategic planning, supplier relationships, and customer engineering organizations.
This remote position offers significant autonomy, with travel of up to 30% to support customers, suppliers, and business priorities.
Accountabilities:
- Serve as the primary RF and Microwave technical expert for demand creation, providing pre-sales and post-sales engineering support and helping customers identify the right components for their systems.
- Use technical expertise and solution-selling approaches to influence customer designs and increase adoption of RF and Microwave products across targeted applications.
- Partner with sales teams, suppliers, and internal departments to conduct technical research, calibrations, design reviews, and other activities that support customer opportunities.
- Develop strategic technical plans by supplier line and customer solution, contributing to branch strategy meetings and quarterly business reviews.
- Identify key decision-makers across customer and supplier organizations and build strong relationships that support long-term business growth.
- Communicate project activities, technical requirements, plans, and progress clearly to customers, suppliers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Attend supplier training sessions and continuously develop product and market knowledge to strengthen technical credibility.
- Act as the voice of the customer, communicating market needs and technical feedback to internal teams and suppliers to help shape future product development.
- Maintain accurate sales and opportunity information using platforms such as Salesforce and Oracle.
- Participate in a sales compensation plan, with approximately 80% of on-target earnings tied to base compensation and 20% to defined sales-related objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent four-year education, typically combined with at least 5 years of relevant experience in RF and Microwave design or Field Applications Engineering.
- Previous experience as an Applications Engineer or Field Applications Engineer within the RF and Microwave semiconductor industry is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of RF and Microwave technologies, components, system requirements, and customer engineering environments.
- Demonstrated ability to translate sophisticated technical concepts into practical business and customer solutions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Ability to understand customer requirements, influence engineering decisions, and develop solutions that balance technical performance with commercial objectives.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to build relationships with customers, suppliers, sales teams, and internal business functions.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while contributing effectively to strategic meetings, business reviews, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Proficiency with sales tracking and business systems, including Salesforce, Oracle, or comparable platforms.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
- Ability to travel to a designated office location when requested by leadership.
