# Founding Forward Deployed Engineer
We're hiring our first Forward Deployed Engineer.
As our founding FDE, you'll have significant ownership over the systems we build, the customers we work with, and the technical direction of Soren. You'll take complex, often ambiguous business problems and turn them into production AI systems used by real organizations.
This is a highly technical, customer-facing role. You'll work directly with business leaders and their teams to understand how they operate, identify opportunities for AI, and build the software to make those opportunities real. You'll work across the entire engineering stack, from AI systems and application development to backend infrastructure, integrations, and deployment.
We're a small, fast-moving team with high expectations. We move quickly, care deeply about the quality of our work, and give engineers the freedom to make important decisions. We're looking for someone who enjoys difficult technical problems, takes initiative, and wants significant responsibility from day one.
### **What You'll Do**
You'll embed directly with customers to understand their businesses, identify where AI can make a meaningful difference, and build systems that solve real problems.
You'll own engagements end-to-end, from discovery and technical design to implementation, deployment, and iteration. You'll make architectural decisions, write production code, navigate unfamiliar technical environments, and work closely with customers to deliver results.
As our first FDE, you'll also help shape engineering at Soren, making foundational technical decisions, building reusable infrastructure, and establishing practices that future engineers will build upon.
### **Responsibilities**
* Own customer deployments end-to-end, from understanding business problems and designing solutions to building and maintaining production AI systems.
* Design and build AI agents, full-stack applications, backend infrastructure, and integrations with enterprise systems.
* Work directly with customers, translating ambiguous requirements into technical solutions and making engineering decisions independently.
* Proactively drive projects forward, solve difficult problems, and take responsibility for the quality and success of your work.
* Help build Soren's technical foundation through internal tooling, reusable systems, and engineering best practices.
### **You Should Join If You**
* Are an exceptional software engineer with strong technical fundamentals and experience building and shipping complex systems.
* Love solving hard technical problems, learning new technologies, and figuring things out when there's no obvious answer.
* Genuinely enjoy working with customers, understanding their businesses, and solving problems alongside them.
* Are highly proactive, resourceful, and independent. You don't wait for instructions. You identify what needs to happen and make it happen.
* Have high standards, a strong work ethic, and want the ownership and responsibility of building an early-stage company.
### **About Soren**
Soren is the AI transformation partner for traditional businesses.
We embed engineers directly into organizations to help them identify, build, and deploy AI systems that improve how they operate.
Rather than forcing organizations to change how they work, we build AI around their existing workflows, institutional knowledge, and operational requirements. We develop custom AI agents, automations, and enterprise AI infrastructure that integrate with the tools and systems businesses already use.
Our goal is simple: make AI genuinely useful by solving economically meaningful problems.
### **Why Join Us**
We're entering a major shift in how businesses operate.
For years, organizations have invested heavily in AI with relatively modest returns. In many cases, the technology wasn't the problem. The implementation was. Existing AI tools often require people to change established workflows or adapt years of expertise to generic software.
We believe the opposite approach is the future.
Instead of asking people to work like AI, we build AI that works like people.
By understanding how organizations actually operate, we build systems that fit into existing workflows and that people use and rely on every day.
Advances in AI now make it possible to build custom software for businesses that previously couldn't justify the cost or complexity. Systems that once took years to develop can now be built and deployed in weeks.
As our founding FDE, you'll work on challenging engineering problems across different industries, with direct access to customers, significant technical autonomy, and the opportunity to help build Soren from its earliest stages.
If you want to solve hard problems, take full ownership of what you build, and help define how AI gets deployed across real businesses, we'd love to work with you.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
