Alpaca Health enables clinicians to become entrepreneurs, starting in autism care.
We help clinicians launch and scale their own clinics by providing AI-powered software, payer contracting, and full back-office infrastructure. Our goal is simple: shift power in healthcare away from large consolidated entities and back to clinicians.
We've raised over $14M in funding from early-stage investors like Core VC, Adverb Ventures, and South Park Commons, and are building for long-term category leadership. More importantly, we're serving hundreds of patients, while growing 30% MoM.
This role is full-time. We’re looking for candidates based in NYC or open to relocating who are open to 5 days a week in the office.
As Founding Recruiter, you'll be responsible for helping build the team that builds Alpaca. You'll recruit across every function in the company: software engineering, product, operations, provider growth, marketing, customer success, and clinical leadership. You'll own the entire hiring process while developing creative, scalable ways to identify and attract exceptional talent.
This is not a recruiting coordinator role. This is not a role where you'll inherit a mature recruiting function.
You'll help design how hiring works at Alpaca from the ground up.
The people you bring into the company will directly shape our culture, velocity, and ability to achieve our mission.
Lead full-cycle recruiting for roles across engineering, product, GTM, operations, and clinical teams.
You'll work directly with founders and hiring managers to define roles, build candidate pipelines, run interview processes, and close exceptional candidates.
We don't believe the best candidates are always actively applying.
You'll develop creative ways to find and engage talent, including community-building, referral systems, outbound sourcing campaigns, events, content, partnerships, and AI-powered recruiting workflows.
You should constantly be asking:
"How do we find talent that nobody else is talking to?"
Build systems, processes, and automations that allow Alpaca to move faster than larger companies.
This includes:
Candidate sourcing workflows
Outreach sequences
Interview scorecards
Hiring manager training
ATS management
Pipeline reporting
Offer and closing processes
Help leaders identify what great looks like.
Challenge assumptions.
Improve interview quality.
Raise the hiring bar across the company.
You'll be expected to become a trusted thought partner rather than simply filling roles.
Great recruiting is part sales, part storytelling.
You'll help candidates understand why joining Alpaca is a career-defining opportunity and communicate our mission, culture, and vision in a compelling way.
As the company scales, you'll help determine what recruiting resources we need, what specialization makes sense, and eventually help hire future recruiting team members.
You have experience hiring across a variety of disciplines, ideally including some combination of:
Software Engineering
Product
Operations
Sales
Marketing
Customer Success
Healthcare or Clinical roles
You're excited by variety and can quickly learn new talent markets.
You don't rely on inbound applications.
You know how to find people through creative sourcing, referrals, communities, events, research, and personalized outreach.
You enjoy the puzzle of finding candidates others miss.
You thrive in environments with ambiguity.
You don't wait for someone to hand you a process.
You identify problems, propose solutions, and execute.
You enjoy building things from scratch.
You actively use AI to improve sourcing, outreach, research, screening, scheduling, and recruiting operations.
You constantly look for ways to automate repetitive work and spend more time building relationships with candidates.
You understand that recruiting isn't just identifying talent.
It's helping great people make great decisions.
You can build trust, understand motivations, navigate objections, and create excitement around opportunities.
You believe that a handful of exceptional hires can change the trajectory of a company.
You have strong judgment and high standards, and you're willing to work hard to find the right person rather than settling for the available one.
Building a company is hard.
Building a recruiting function from scratch is harder.
You're energized by ambitious goals, move with urgency, and take pride in doing whatever it takes to help the company win.
Direct exposure to company-building at an early stage.
Real ownership of critical initiatives from day one.
The opportunity to materially impact families and clinicians.
A fast learning curve that few roles can match.
