Darkroom (Darkroom Digital, Inc.) is the leading next-generation growth marketing firm engineering the brands of tomorrow. Founded in 2017, we set out to redefine what a modern agency could be, by replacing the inertia of legacy advertising behemoths with a model built for speed, intelligence, and measurable impact.
At our core, Darkroom is a human services company powered by Shadow, a universal AI commerce layer that integrates executive-level strategy with proprietary agentic technology. This fusion enables our teams to deliver outsized returns by enhancing creative output, operational efficiency, and revenue generation across every stage of the customer journey.
Our track record speaks for itself: billions in attributable revenue driven across e-commerce marketplaces, media networks, DTC ecosystems, and social commerce platforms. Every engagement feeds into our proprietary data infrastructure, enabling a continuous feedback loop that accelerates growth, improves margins, and compounds results across our client portfolio.
What began as a boutique design studio has evolved into one of the fastest-growing private companies in America (Inc. 5000) and among the most effective performance media agencies of the 2020s (Varos). Our founders were recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30 for advancing the intersection of technology, marketing, and advertising, cementing Darkroom's role as a defining player in the future of media innovation.
Darkroom is hiring an FP&A Analyst to join the Finance team. You'll own financial modeling, performance reporting, compensation reporting, and utilization and capacity analysis, the numbers behind how and when we hire. You'll report to the SVP of Finance and work closely with the Finance Operations Manager, the AR & Billing Specialist, and our department Managing Directors, turning complex operating and financial data into clear recommendations that drive forecasting, planning, and decision-making across the company.
You'll own your work end to end, from weekly pacing to the monthly and quarterly reports that go to the CEO. Teammates peer-check each other's work, and the SVP of Finance approves what goes to the CEO.
This role is built for someone who sees AI as a core part of how finance gets done. You'll use tools like Claude to sharpen analysis, automate repetitive work, and build workflows that raise both the speed and quality of our financial output.
This is a fully remote role from Brazil or Portugal supporting a team in the EST time zone (9 AM–5 PM EST).
Build, maintain, and enhance our unified financial model, including the P&L, budgets, forecasts, headcount plan, scenario analyses, and unit economics.
Prepare the weekly pacing report, tracking MRR, bookings, and revenue against target.
Prepare the revenue, EBITDA, year-to-date, MRR, and outlook sections of the monthly report, and the quarterly performance report.
Explain the numbers: break every variance against budget into its drivers, and recommend changes to model assumptions when actuals move away from them.
Own the utilization model by department, role, and person, including Shadow FTEs (the capacity our AI platform adds), and connect it directly to gross margin and unit economics.
Work with Managing Directors on every hiring request, building the case for hiring now or waiting based on utilization, pipeline, and margin impact.
Build and maintain the department-head compensation dashboard, and prepare the quarterly KPI figures behind our incentive plans.
Run cohort analysis: retention, expansion, and lifetime value by client cohort.
Analyze our media mix and profitability by client and service line, and recommend pricing, scope, and staffing changes.
Peer-check teammates' work, including budget vs. actual, model changes, payout calculations, and vendor payments against budget.
Use AI tools like Claude to enhance analysis, automate repetitive tasks, and build more efficient workflows.
Identify and implement improvements to the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of financial processes and reporting.
Take on ad hoc analysis and special projects as the business needs them.
You have 2–4 years of professional experience in FP&A, private equity, investment banking, transaction services, or consulting.
You've built and maintained complex financial models, not just updated them.
You're advanced in Google Sheets or Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, dynamic formulas, and scenario analysis. Our model runs in Google Sheets.
You understand unit economics in a services business (capacity, utilization, billable rates, and margin), or you can learn them fast.
You write clear management reporting: you can explain what changed, why, and what to do about it in a few sentences.
You already use Claude or similar AI tools in your work and can point to real examples of AI-driven analysis, automation, or workflow improvements.
You form a view and defend it with data. You bring recommendations, not just numbers.
You're analytical, organized, and a strong problem-solver with a high bar for accuracy and detail.
You work independently, juggle multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
You're fluent in written and spoken English.
Experience in an agency or professional services firm is a plus.
Darkroom is not a typical agency. We are looking for A players who want to build something great. We move fast, think deeply, and expect every team member to bring insight and rigor to everything they touch. We hold a high bar for performance, creativity, and ownership, but we also support each other relentlessly. No egos, no red tape, just world-class talent building something remarkable.
We believe in autonomy with accountability, truth over comfort, and outcomes over optics.
Unlimited PTO + local holidays (relevant to your hub): Rebooting is part of the work. Take the time you need to stay sharp.
Remote-First Culture: Many roles are fully remote. Employees based in or near our New York or Lisbon HQs are expected to work hybrid with weekly in-office time. Hub locations include Brazil and Spain.
Parental Leave: Flexible parental leave to support new parents during this important transition.
Growth: Our interdisciplinary model gives every Darkroomer exposure far beyond their core role. Grow your skills, expand your influence, and stay at the forefront of the industry.
Darkroom is an equal opportunity workplace. We are dedicated to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or Veteran status. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.
