Company description:
Elliptic is the leader in digital asset decisioning, we have built the most comprehensive platform for efficiently extracting crypto data and intelligence across blockchains with the greatest accuracy.
Our platform’s unrivalled uptime, scalability, depth and breadth of our data and intelligence means exacting organizations choose Elliptic for their compliance, risk management, intelligence operations and blockchain infrastructure needs.
Founded in 2013, Elliptic is headquartered in London with offices in New York, Washington D.C., Miami, San Francisco, UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo. To learn more, visit www.elliptic.co and follow us on LinkedIn and X.
Do you want to be part of the future of value transfer? Are you excited about solving problems that have never been solved before? Are you looking for a values led company, which cares about the growth of its employees?
The impact you will have:
As an engineer in our Collection Engineering team, you'll build the tools and platform that power Elliptic's intelligence operation, the engine behind a product used by law enforcement, regulators, and the world's largest financial institutions to fight crypto crime. Intelligence flows into Elliptic from everywhere. All of it needs to be ingested, classified, stored, and reviewed before it can reach our proprietary graph database, the system at the heart of our market-leading products. Our team owns that pipeline end to end.
Working alongside data scientists, analysts and researchers, you'll help design and build the services and tooling that scale the collection effort, remove bottlenecks, and free our intelligence team to focus on the work only humans can do. Your work will get stolen funds traced, ransomware actors identified, and sanctions enforcement enabled.
Few engineering roles connect code and consequence so clearly.
Elliptic is building an AI fluent workforce. We invest in the tools, training and time for our teams to use AI well: every Elliptite has access to Claude, and we expect AI to be a normal part of how you work, not an occasional add on. We are not looking for people who use AI the most. We are looking for people who use it best, with curiosity, sound judgment and full ownership of what they ship.
Across our Product, Engineering, Design and Intelligence we’re going beyond giving everyone the tools. We’re setting new standards. Using AI to transform how we build and work every day to deliver on our market opportunity. Put another way our teams iterate alongside agentic systems applying judgement to build world class systems.
What that looks like for this role is set out below.
What you will do:
Design and build software tools to improve and enhance our intelligence collection and analysis efforts. Examples of such tools range from services deployed on Kubernetes to autonomous agents.
This role at our ‘Adoptive’ level of AI fluency. That means we expect you to build and ship agentic systems into production, and take responsibility for how they behave when they get it wrong: evaluation, guardrails, monitoring, and the honest judgement about where an agent should not be trusted.
Collaborate with a world class team of analysts and researchers to understand their processes and pain points, and automate them away, deploying AI where appropriate.
Develop software to analyse and interpret cryptocurrency usage behaviours and trends.
Implement observability mechanisms to detect problems in your environment(s), and run the associated business processes to resolve.
You will be a great fit here if you:
Have a passionate interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchains and their usage (both from a technical and economic perspective) in the real-world.
Have great coding skills in Typescript and the proven ability to engineer good solutions.
Have increased operational efficiency by integrating disparate systems.
Have fundamentally changed how you work with AI, not just how fast: you build with it rather than just reaching for it, and you're always exploring what it makes possible next.
Enjoy working as part of a close-knit team on highly impactful problems, making the crypto ecosystem a safer space.
Promote a positive culture of collaboration, through open and effective communication, particularly when addressing issues or raising concerns.
Are able to form well reasoned, data driven or otherwise evidence-based arguments, to influence key stakeholders across the business.
Know when to build PoC vs production grade software.
Are happy to work with colleagues who are geographically distributed and across different timezones.
Our ideal candidate has:
A track record of building and shipping production software in a commercial engineering environment.
Proficiency in TypeScript, with hands-on experience of React and Nest.js.
Familiarity with Postgres and Kubernetes.
Experience with AWS, Terraform, and Datadog.
AI fluency: We're looking for engineers for whom AI has genuinely changed how they build, not just how fast. You work with AI-assisted and agentic tooling day to day and build with it rather than just reaching for it. You can show a clear trajectory in how your practice has grown over time.
Bonus Points for:
Having worked in an intelligence collection setting.
Experience with "big data" technologies, the management of data, and data pipelines.
Signs of transformative AI practice: you've raised the bar for how the people around you work with AI, not just how you work yourself.
