Not for symptoms to get worse. Not for a six‑month appointment. Not for a system to catch up. But that’s exactly how healthcare works today. You wait, until you can’t.
Alan exists to end the wait.
Founded in Senegal in 2022, Tanel is the first digital health insurer in French-speaking West Africa. It operates in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire, transforming a market dominated by paper-based processes and fragmented legacy players.
With more than 30,000 members, a network of over 1,200 healthcare providers and more than 400 pharmacies, as well as revenue that grew sevenfold in 2025, Tanel has demonstrated strong product-market fit in countries that were ready for a revolution in healthcare insurance.
In 2026, Alan, the European leader in prevention-focused health insurance, acquired Tanel to accelerate its expansion across the African continent. Alan serves more than one million members across France, Belgium, Spain and Canada, and generates more than €950 million in revenue.
Together, we are building the leading health insurance company in French-speaking West Africa, with the ambition of reaching $200 million in revenue by 2030.
We bring together the best of both organisations: Tanel’s deep understanding of the local market, strong local relationships and trusted reputation, alongside Alan’s leading technology platform, actuarial expertise and experience operating across multiple countries.
Within our Engineering team, we build the infrastructure, interfaces and applications that allow us to deliver a first-class service to our members, healthcare providers and internal teams.
Being an engineer at Alan means joining a team of talented, committed and passionate engineers, with a strong connection to product.
We move quickly, with a high level of ownership and autonomy, and we are proud to tackle complex problems.
Our way of working is simple: the people who make product decisions are also the people who build the solutions.
Our technology stack includes Python/Flask, React, React Native and PostgreSQL.

You will play a central role in the gradual convergence of Alan and Tanel’s products and technologies.
The goal will be to preserve the best of both organisations: Tanel’s deep knowledge of the West African market, operational expertise and local relationships, together with Alan’s powerful platform, product practices and international experience.
You will contribute to:
Bringing together the product experiences and technology foundations of both companies.
Building reusable components and systems that can meet the specific needs of local markets.
Evolving our tools to support the growth of our product and operations.
Simplifying and automating processes that are currently managed manually.
Improving the flow and reliability of data between teams and systems.
Finding the right balance between global standardisation and adapting to the realities of Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.
Laying the technical foundations for our medium-term expansion into new West African markets.
This is a rare opportunity to work on complex, concrete problems with a direct impact on how healthcare is funded, administered and experienced by thousands of people.
