_We’re looking for our first growth engineer to own how Circleback grows, in San Francisco._
## The Role
Circleback grows through the product itself. People get notes from a meeting with someone already using it, like what they see, and try it. Then it spreads inside their company.
You'll be our first growth hire. You'll own growth engineering from day one, decide what we build and test, and have plenty of room to grow your scope as the company grows.
You'll focus on what happens inside the product, working closely with the founders and our Founding Marketer, who owns channels and brand. You'll ship across the stack as part of a small team.
## What you'll do
* Improve every step of the product-led loop: the notes a non-user receives after a meeting, signup, onboarding, and activation.
* Figure out why Circleback spreads to the whole team at some companies and stays with a few people at others, and build the product changes that close that gap.
* Build and maintain our analytics and experimentation foundation: event instrumentation, attribution, dashboards, and A/B tests the whole team trusts.
* Improve retention by learning what keeps people using Circleback long term and getting more people there.
* Ship in-product growth surfaces like upgrade flows, referral tools, and integrations. You'll work in web (React, Next.js, Prisma, SWR), desktop (Electron, Swift), and mobile (React Native).
* Work with the Founding Marketer on what to test, and share what you learn.
## You might be a good fit if
* You've shipped production software, including growth experiments, and you've instrumented a funnel yourself (signup conversion, activation, or retention).
* You're comfortable digging into data yourself, whether that's writing queries or reading a funnel, and you're as happy doing that as shipping a feature.
* You care about users as much as implementation.
* You have strong product judgment and care about experiments that move signup, activation, or retention.
* You're low ego, direct, and comfortable operating without much process.
People who've thrived here have often been former founders, early startup engineers, or engineers who've owned features end-to-end. You don't need that exact background. We care much more about how you think and what you've built.
## About Circleback
Circleback is building the source of truth for everything said at a company, starting with best-in-class AI meeting notes, action items, and search.
Every company runs on conversations (meetings, calls, emails) but almost none of that context is usable after the fact. We're building the platform that captures, organizes, and acts on all of it, so teams can actually use what they know.
We're a small team backed by Y Combinator. Profitable, growing virally, and thousands of paying customers including PostHog, Browserbase, Gumloop, and more.
## Why join
* We ship fast with a high bar for quality.
* Small team, large problem: the category we're building didn't exist a few years ago.
* Profitable and growing virally through word of mouth, not paid acquisition.
* Build software people actually love and use every day.
* Free lunch and dinners, competitive salary and equity.
* Flexible health coverage and 401K matching.
Visa sponsorship is offered for this role.
