Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
Anthropic’s commercial business is scaling at a pace that outruns any fixed go-to-market plan. New products and capabilities launch on a frontier cadence, new GTM motions get incubated and reorganized in months rather than years, and for each thing we sell, the questions of who we sell it to, how the field and our partners execute, how we win against the alternatives, and whether it’s working have to be answered continuously and globally. We need a leader who owns those answers.
You’ll lead the Sales Strategy team inside our Central GTM Strategy, Operations & Analytics organization, with a global scope across our full solution portfolio. That breaks into three things.
You’ll design the sales strategy for our solution portfolio from defining the core sales motions, who we target with them - across personas, segments, industries, and geographies - how we execute, including how the field and channel are orchestrated and which sales assets and programs support them; how we respond to competitor moves, and how we measure progress, through the KPIs and OKRs the business is run against.
You’ll be the connective tissue across Product, Marketing, Finance, Sales, Regional Sales Strategy, Customer Success, Enablement, and Operations, so that every GTM lever is tuned to drive execution success at scale rather than each function optimizing its own piece. Where a product, segment, or region is pacing behind its aspiration, you’ll co-own the plan to close the gap with the sales strategy partners for that part of the business, and stay with it until it does.
And you’ll own the signal. Your team will synthesize what the field and our customers are telling us, alongside pipeline and performance data, into a clear view of what’s working, what isn’t, and the systemic issues we need to solve to grow faster. You’ll lead the cross-functional steering committees where GTM strategy gets decided, and you’ll be accountable for those forums producing decisions rather than updates.
This is a player-coach role for an operator who can move fluently between a targeting model, a compete plan, and a strategy narrative for our most senior commercial leaders, is comfortable defining work that doesn’t yet have an owner, and wants to shape how a frontier AI company sells.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
