By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. At Halter, how we show up creatively and connect with farmers and ranchers matters. We like risk takers, someone who's ready to take a fresh approach and push boundaries for impact. We're looking for a Head of Creative Creative Design to lead and grow our creative function as we scale globally. We have a multidisciplinary creative team of graphic designers, videographers/editors, and motion graphics artists; this role is about raising the bar on our work, bringing fresh vision for our visual identity, building the capability to support more regions and touchpoints, and making sure the creative hub is set up to do its best work.
You'll shape how Halter visually shows up across content, campaigns, events, sales tools, presentations, merchandise, our employee brand and more. You'll work closely with the Brand and Product Design teams to make sure the visual experience feels connected, considered and distinctly Halter.
You'll set design and creative standards, coach the team, improve how work flows through the creative hub, and build templates and AI-enabled tools that help regional teams move faster on smaller jobs like leaflets and flyers. And when the important work needs it, you'll get into the tools yourself and help make it great.
In the past few months at Halter, our Brand and Creative teams have worked on events and in-person activations globally, documentary series, TVCs shot in NZ and California, world-leading SaaS product launches and merch drops that are worn by thousands of farmers and ranchers. As the Head of Creative Design, you’ll be at the intersection of all of these projects and more.
We're looking for someone who sees what needs to change, cares deeply about the craft of design and makes it happen.
A strategic thinker. You can step back from the day-to-day, understand what the business needs and translate that into better creative work. You know when to focus on the big picture and when to get into the detail.
A great designer and creative. You have strong design fundamentals and a sharp eye for detail. You're confident in tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Davinci Studio, etc and aren't afraid to get hands-on when needed.
A simplifier of the complex.
Halter is a multifaceted software product and a new way to farm. You’ve likely worked on technical products before, likely in tech or software, and can find ways to explain a complex product in clear and interesting ways.
A builder. You spot gaps, come up with better ways of working and take ownership of making them happen.
A strong people leader. You’re inspiring with your vision, know how to get the best from designers and other creative disciplines through clear direction, good feedback and coaching. You're comfortable leading a growing team.
A systems thinker. You understand that we can't scale by doing everything ourselves. You look for smarter ways to work, from better processes and templates to AI-enabled tools.
Collaborative by nature. You'll work across brand, marketing, regional teams, product and other functions. You know how to bring people with you and make creative easier to work with.
Front of the jersey. You care about doing great work, not the credit or to win the awards. The work we do has to be impactful for our farmers and ranchers first beyond anything else. You're happy to lead from the front, collaborate with others or jump into the tools depending on what the work needs.
Creative custodian and design quality
Set the creative standard across Halter and ensure our work is cohesive, considered and distinctive across markets and channels.
Educating Halter’s product through visual creative
You’ll work alongside Brand and Product Marketing to better articulate Halter as a SaaS-enabled hardware product through app abstractions, printed collateral and video assets.
Lead the creative hub
Lead and develop the existing creative team, with the opportunity to grow the function globally as Halter evolves. Create clarity around priorities, capacity and where the team's time is best spent. Work with external resource where it’s best for Halter.
Make creative work better
Partner with the Brand Director, marketing and regional teams to improve the quality and effectiveness of campaigns, content, events, paid creative, presentations, sales tools, merchandise and other brand touchpoints. Build a strong relationship with Product Design to create a cohesive experience across separate design functions.
Build for scale
Create templates, guidelines, workflows and AI-enabled tools that allow regional teams to execute smaller jobs themselves, while maintaining the brand and freeing the creative hub to focus on higher-impact work.
Prioritise the work that matters
Create a clear way of assessing and prioritising creative requests. Protect the team's time for work that will have the biggest impact rather than simply responding to whatever gets briefed first.
Build capability across Halter
Help regional marketing teams and other stakeholders become better creative partners - from writing better briefs to understanding when they can execute themselves and when something needs specialist creative input.
Work across disciplines
Product Design teams are in a separate product function but you’ll partner closely with them and the Brand Director, recognising that different teams own different parts of the customer experience while ensuring the overall Halter brand feels connected.
