Most finance roles ask you to keep the books. This one asks you to build the finance engine of a fast-growing insurance company: fast numbers, clean controls and a plan to fund what's next.
Hands-on in the details. Strategic in the room.
Why we exist
Insurance is too complicated: slow claims, small print and clunky screens. We're changing the industry standard for entrepreneurs.
- Instant. Money, help and clarity, right when customers need it.
- Simple. Plain language and an app that just works.
- With care. For our customers, and for each other.
We're customer-obsessed. We love our team and culture because that's how we build better products.
And it's a great time to join. We're 70+ people in Amsterdam, just launched in Ireland, and building multiple products across multiple countries at once. It's fast, and sometimes a bit chaotic, and you’ll have a real say in how we fix it. That's where you come in.
Why now? We’ve proven the model in the Netherlands and are scaling it across Europe. Ireland just went live, more markets are on the roadmap. The finance foundations we build in the next 12 months will decide how fast we can grow.
What you'll own in your first year
- Make the numbers instant. Automate our reporting so the MT steers on this week’s numbers, not last month's.
- A close you can trust. Tighten the monthly close and controls so every entity runs cleanly. You also own the reporting that carriers, auditors and regulators rely on.
- Think along, push back. Be the sparring partner for every team. Challenge business cases, budgets and assumptions, including your own team's.
- Lead change across teams. Own improvements that cut across departments, and take people with you.
- Grow the team. Coach the team and shape how finance grows with us.
Who you are
- You've led projects in strategy or operations consulting, and you've also worked hands-on in a finance department, ideally at a scaleup.
- You know accounting well enough to review a close, challenge a controller and spot what’s wrong in a P&L or a model. You don’t need to book the entries yourself.
- You take ownership. You spot the problem, propose the fix and make it happen.
- You zoom in and out: deep in a reconciliation one hour, pitching a financing scenario the next.
- You automate by default. Spreadsheets are a starting point, not a destination.
- You bring energy and enjoy bringing structure to chaos.
- (Nice to have) You bring experience in insurance, fintech or another regulated environment.
- You work fluently in English; Dutch is a plus.
This role isn't for you if…
- You'd rather maintain a finance function than build one.
- You prefer overseeing to doing.
- You need a finished playbook before you start.
What we offer
- Real scope. You work directly with the MT, close to where decisions get made.
- A business worth building. A mission customers feel and the chance to shape finance from the ground up.
- A team that cares. We live by four values: Grit, Care, Impact and Entrepreneurship.
- Growth. A role that grows with the company, plus an in-house coaching and leadership program.
- The package. 100-140k depending on experience and scope + 6% pension, holidays, well-being budget and rich social internal events (ski trip, summer and winter party).
- The basics, done well. Office in Amsterdam, laptop and hybrid working.
If you’d rather build the engine than maintain it, we’d like to meet you. No cover letter needed.
