Shift 2 (United States of America)

Job Description:

At Vitalant, our Hospital Distribution team plays a critical role in ensuring lifesaving blood products are available when and where patients need them. In this role you will provide responsive service to the hospitals and healthcare facilities we support. As a Hospital Distribution Technician, you’ll work behind the scenes of patient care, processing hospital blood orders, preparing blood products needed for a scheduled procedure, an ongoing patient need or an urgent situation, safely and efficiently.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly regulated healthcare environment. You do not need to come from a blood banking background to make an impact. We’re looking for individuals who can follow detailed procedures, provide excellent customer service, work accurately under pressure and understand the importance of getting every order right.  While you may never meet the patient receiving the blood you handle, the work you do directly supports patient care every day

Required Schedule:

Tuesday - Saturday 330p - 12am

Starting Pay:

$20.10 - $20.96 hourly, based on experience

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Drivers License with good driving record required in all locations except PA.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to accurately enter, review and maintain information using computer systems.
• Ability to work the schedule associated with the position, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings and/or on-call responsibilities depending on location.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including handling, moving and preparing blood products and related supplies. (Lift up to 40-50 Lbs.)

What You’ll Do

This isn’t a traditional warehouse or distribution position. You’ll be working with blood products in a healthcare environment where accuracy, urgency and attention to detail matter. Every blood order you process supports a patient who is depending on us. In this role, you will:

• Receive, process and confirm routine and urgent blood product orders from hospitals and healthcare facilities, providing professional customer service, order updates and timely responses to inquiries.
• Select, verify, prepare, package and distribute blood products while maintaining a high level of accuracy, completing required documentation and ensuring patient safety.
• Monitor, receive, store, rotate and track blood product inventory and supplies, maintaining accurate records and ensuring product availability to meet hospital needs.
• Use computer systems and internal software to process orders, document transactions, manage inventory and maintain compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
• Follow established standard operating procedures, quality standards, safety guidelines and temperature-control requirements within a regulated healthcare environment, while maintaining clean, organized and compliant work areas.
• Collaborate with drivers, couriers, hospital staff and team members to manage changing priorities, support time-sensitive requests and, when applicable, deliver blood products to hospitals using a Vitalant vehicle.

Benefits

When you join Vitalant, you’ll experience a career built on purpose, an organization created to care and a team committed to making a difference together. Our total rewards package will support you, your family, and your future with:

• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
• 401(k) retirement savings with 5% company match
• Tuition assistance and professional development opportunities
• Employee assistance and wellness resources
• A commitment to work-life balance through generous paid time off, paid holidays, and wellness-focused benefits.
• Health savings and flexible spending accounts
• Employee recognition and service award programs
• Discounted event tickets, gym memberships, Hinge Health support, and exclusive employee offers.

What We’re Looking For

You may be a great fit for this role if you have experience in customer service, healthcare, laboratory support, pharmacy, inventory, order fulfillment, distribution, compliance, logistics or another environment where accuracy and following established procedures are essential.

Successful Hospital Distribution Technicians are typically people who:

• Have strong attention to detail and understand the importance of accuracy.
• Provide professional, responsive customer service.
• Can manage multiple priorities without sacrificing quality.
• Remain calm and focused when handling urgent or time-sensitive requests.
• Are comfortable learning computer systems and working with detailed documentation.
• Can consistently follow established procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Enjoy working as part of a team and understand that reliability matters when supporting a 24/7 healthcare operation.
• Take pride in knowing their work has a direct connection to patient care.
