Commercial HVAC/R Service Technician

Rite Air Mechanical | A Smart Care Company

If you know commercial HVAC and refrigeration, can troubleshoot beyond simply swapping parts, and like working independently in the field, Rite Air Mechanical wants to talk to you.

We’re looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC/R Service Technician to diagnose, repair, maintain, and service HVAC and refrigeration equipment for our commercial customers.

This is a field-based position for a technician who enjoys solving problems, working directly with customers, and taking ownership of getting equipment back up and running.

What You’ll Do

As a Commercial HVAC/R Service Technician, you’ll spend your days troubleshooting and servicing equipment at customer locations throughout your assigned territory.

Responsibilities include:

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment
• Service rooftop units, split systems, package units, walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-ins, ice machines, and other commercial HVAC/R equipment
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, controls, airflow, and refrigeration-system issues
• Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential problems before they become emergency service calls
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications
• Recover, evacuate, charge, and troubleshoot refrigeration systems
• Identify failed components and determine the appropriate repair
• Communicate clearly with customers about equipment conditions, repairs, and recommendations
• Complete service documentation accurately and on time
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory
• Work independently while staying connected with dispatch, management, and the rest of the service team
• Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Previous commercial HVAC and/or refrigeration service experience
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Working knowledge of electrical systems and controls
• Experience working with commercial HVAC equipment and refrigeration systems
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics
• EPA certification
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently
• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Comfortable using mobile technology to receive calls and document completed work
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation

We'd Especially Like to Talk to You If You Have Experience With:

• Commercial rooftop units
• Package and split systems
• Walk-in coolers and freezers
• Reach-in refrigeration
• Ice machines
• Compressors
• Evaporators and condensers
• Refrigeration controls
• Electrical troubleshooting
• Leak detection and repair
• Preventative maintenance
• Commercial restaurant, retail, grocery, or foodservice environments

You don’t necessarily need experience with every piece of equipment on this list. We’re looking for technicians with a solid commercial HVAC/R foundation who know how to troubleshoot and are willing to continue learning.

What You’ll Get

• Competitive pay based on experience
• Company service vehicle and fuel card
• Company-provided tools and equipment as applicable
• Medical, dental, and vision benefits
• 401(k)
• Paid time off and paid holidays
• Ongoing technical training and development
• Opportunities to earn additional certifications
• Career growth opportunities within Rite Air and the Smart Care organization
• Support from an experienced service and operations team
