Job Overview
This role provides hands-on technical field service support for DePuy Synthes’ orthopedic solutions while partnering closely with Commercial and Sales teams to ensure successful installation, operation, and optimization of medical devices in customer environments. The Hybrid Engineer plays a critical role in customer satisfaction, product reliability, and revenue enablement, serving as a technical expert during installations, upgrades, and post‑sale support activities.
Key Responsibilities
Provide on‑site and remote technical support for DePuy Synthes orthopedic systems, including installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment.
Partner with Commercial and Sales teams to support product demonstrations, clinical evaluations, and customer onboarding activities.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues in hospital and clinical environments, ensuring minimal downtime and high customer satisfaction.
Execute preventive maintenance, upgrades, and corrective actions in compliance with company quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, service reports, and field test records to support compliance and continuous improvement.
Provide technical training and guidance to customers and internal partners on proper system use and care.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to escalate product issues and support product enhancements.
Adhere to all DePuy Synthes policies, procedures, and the Johnson & Johnson Credo in daily work.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering (Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related technical discipline).
Advanced technical training or certifications preferred.
Experience and Skills
Required:
0-2 years of relevant experience in field service engineering, technical service, or a comparable customer‑facing engineering role.
Hands‑on experience installing, maintaining, or troubleshooting complex electromechanical or medical devices.
Ability to work independently in hospital and clinical environments with a strong customer‑service mindset.
Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and technical documentation skills.
Working knowledge of quality systems, safety standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to medical devices.
Physical ability to handle and transport equipment (including lifting up to approximately 25 kg / 55 lbs).
Preferred:
Experience supporting orthopedic, surgical, or capital medical equipment in a commercial setting.
Prior collaboration with Sales or Commercial teams in a hybrid technical role.
Familiarity with hospital workflows, operating rooms, and sterile environments.
Experience delivering customer or internal technical training.
Proficiency with service management systems and digital reporting tools.
Other:
Languages: Portuguese required; English proficiency preferred.
Travel: Up to 50% domestic travel within Brazil; occasional international travel may be required.
Certifications: Technical or biomedical certifications preferred but not required.
Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license required for customer site visits.
