Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
We are looking for a hands-on, customer-focused IT Support Specialist to join our factory IT team at Base. You’ll help keep our flagship battery factory (BF1) and warehouse network running around the clock.
You’ll be the first point of contact for factory and warehouse IT issues, managing tickets and walk-ups while troubleshooting technology directly on the production floor. This hands-on role includes racking switches, calibrating label printers, provisioning scanners, and resolving issues that could bring production stations to a halt.
This is a designated second-shift role. You must be available to work Monday through Friday, 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. Your assigned shift will depend on team coverage needs and may change as the company and team grow.
This role will require periodic travel to our facilities across Texas and, as we expand, other states. You’ll primarily support factory and warehouse operations but will also provide IT support to the broader company as needed.
Provide hands-on technical support across factory and warehouse operations, including laptops, workstations, handheld scanners, label printers, kiosks, time clocks, badge printers, and production-adjacent systems.
Deploy, configure, and maintain Zebra hardware across all locations, including wireless barcode scanners, charging docks, and thermal transfer label printers. Calibrate printers, troubleshoot print quality, perform preventive maintenance, and partner with manufacturing on label and ribbon selection.
Manage the IT ticket queue through Jira Service Management and support channels (chat, email, and in-person), prioritizing issues based on operational impact.
Own end-to-end employee onboarding and offboarding, including laptop and scanner provisioning, badges, SIM cards, account access, and device returns or wipes.
Troubleshoot basic network and connectivity issues across factory and warehouse environments, including Wi-Fi, switches, access points, and printer connectivity. Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to resolve IT issues impacting production across both shifts.
Maintain IT asset inventory, spare-parts stock, and software license and access audits. Develop technical documentation, self-service troubleshooting resources, and IT procedures while identifying opportunities to improve ticketing workflows.
1+ years of IT support or help desk experience, ideally in a manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics environment.
Administration experience with common workplace tools (Google Workspace, Slack, Okta, Microsoft 365, Zoom) and ticketing systems (Jira)
Technical troubleshooting experience across Windows and Mac devices, with a working knowledge of networking fundamentals (Wi-Fi, switches, VLANs, DHCP, and static IPs).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support employees at all levels and serve as a visible, approachable IT resource on the production floor.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to independently manage a ticket queue, prioritize competing requests, and handle in-person walk-ups.
Ability to create clear technical documentation and self-service guides.
A valid driver’s license
Hands-on experience with Zebra scanners and printers (deployment, calibration, print-quality tuning, basic maintenance); familiarity with ZPL, ZDNA and managed device fleets (MDM) is a plus
Base's IT team is building the infrastructure for a company that's growing fast, with new locations launching multiple times a year. You would be on the ground floor in setting the standards Base uses as we scale. It's a small team with broad ownership across security, networking, OT, and site IT, so the impact of getting it right (or wrong) is immediate and visible. If you want to join a quickly expanding team and get experience with every function of IT, this is the team for you.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
