Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public service media organization.

Technology & Infrastructure (T&I) is the backbone and the future-forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. Our purpose is to constantly innovate to evolve and maintain the Corporation’s technology and infrastructure. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.

A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly regarded pioneer of media technology — not just in Canada but around the world. Today, we are transforming ourselves into a modern and agile public service media organization. Technology is the driving force, and we are the team making it happen.

This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

The Opportunity

As Junior Consultant (Senior Coordinator), Support - Broadcast Management, you will provide active technical support to users of Radio-Canada broadcast management applications by working alongside dynamic project teams and the Expertise Centre. You will be responsible for analyzing and understanding recurring problems that are part of the business framework.

You must analyze and understand the various technical issues experienced by users, contacting them personally as needed. You will work with both developers and teams in Business Technology Solutions teams to resolve more complex issues.

You will draft documentation required for troubleshooting and for training first-level support staff.

At CBC/Radio-Canada, you’ll find passionate people, challenges and demanding responsibilities that will further your personal and professional growth.

What’s in it for you?

Challenges. We spend our days solving problems on an unbelievable scale. Media files are highly nuanced and incredibly complicated; updating, installing and supporting technologies that are organization-wide and that impact broadcasting content is a time sensitive, complex technical feat. And that’s just the beginning. Not to mention, you will be working with cutting edge technology in data management, cloud migration, IP for broadcast, AI and security and reliability.

As our new Junior Consultant, you will:

• Analyze, solve and resolve various and complex technological problems.
• Analyze and evaluate tools and work methodologies in order to make recommendations to optimize them.
• Develop and implement different tools, processes and optimized work methodology.
• Implement and coordinate special projects (ex: updating work method for a station).
• Train support staff and super users.
• Help advise management in the development of strategic plans.
• Manage and provide advanced technical support, and maintain systems, applications, equipment and software; ensure that the equipment used works well and is accessible, while ensuring the integrity of the content.
• Take charge and support regular customers in order to offer high-level technological support (autonomy with decision-making and problem-solving).
• Establish and sustain communication between the various departments supported and the support teams.
• Document all changes, optimization or modification in working methods.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a College Diploma in IT support or IT management, or the equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience acquired in coordinating a technical team in a user support center.
• Knowledge of broadcast management applications (OnAir, WO Program, Cognos, Livelink, ScheduAll, RRT, MRO, etc.).
• Knowledge of the business community in connection with Radio and TV broadcast management systems.
• Good general knowledge and intellectual curiosity (with respect to acquiring and developing new knowledge and skills).
• Good analytical sense with an openness to find solutions to problems.
• Knowledge of or experience with the implementation of Agile principles (Scrum / Kanban) - an asset.
• Knowledge of or experience with ticket management tools (e.g. Jira, Remedy, etc.) - an asset.
• Strong analytical skills and openness to find solutions to problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and client satisfaction.
• Bilingualism (French and English), spoken and written.
• Ability to travel within Canada.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next

step will be asked to complete a background check. This includes:

• A mandatory Criminal record check.

• Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position.
