Lead Dockhand

Summary

Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Lead Dockhand for Legends Global/Stockton Downtown Marina. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the marina and assisting the Marina Director and the marina team to serve marina customers and guests by performing the following duties: greeting guests, answering and directing all telephone calls, notifying marina staff of guests, responding to guest questions, redirecting guests to the appropriate contact and providing both operational and administrative support to the Marina Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Carries out routine cleaning duties that meet established quality standards for all marina related operations; insures the recognized standards are maintained and that quality, and delivery commitments are met
• Assists the Marina Director and other dockhands in marina related duties such as securing boats to docks, connecting and monitoring utility services (power, water and telephone), black water pump out, waste disposal and facility sanitation
• Provides high level of customer and guest services, expedites any and all requests from vessels including transport of patrons and baggage to and from dockside, delivery of provisions and packages
• Routinely operates, motor and water vehicles and other various mechanized equipment
• Provides general security & supports marina & facility security teams in security related efforts; reports disturbances in dock area to superiors and maintains general vigilance
• Provides service to marina and facility guests and carries out routine marina maintenance
• Responsible for daily interaction with the client and client's customers and/or employees. Ensure that all efforts are focused upon exceeding each and every guest’s expectations. Promotes positive image of the Department and displays Legends Global service attitude towards customers and co-workers, in person and on the telephone.
• Observe guest reactions and confer frequently with both the Marina Director and marina staff to determine guest satisfaction.
• Perform general clerical and data entry duties as assigned.
• Answer and screen telephone calls. Take and deliver messages by email or transfer calls to voicemail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
• Coordinates schedules and makes appointments, as needed.
• Organize and maintain file systems, file correspondence and other records.
• Complying with instructions or duties as may be reasonably assigned
• Assumes responsibility for managing the marina in the Marina Director’s absence

Such qualities and qualifications include:

• Familiarity with common marina operations, boat handling and towing, plant and equipment maintenance.
• Proven skills or the willingness to be trained in administration, seamanship, communications, health and safety, plant and equipment maintenance and operations
• Familiarity with common marina operational documentation (e.g. agreements, contracts, terms and conditions, marina rules and regulations etc.) and the ability to analyze them
• A positive attitude combined with the ability to communicate fluently and relate well to customers in the leisure environment and the ability to manage and motivate staff
• Commercial awareness and an eye for detail in all aspects of work
• High standards of presentation and accuracy in written work Excellent typing skills with high level of proficiency with general office PC applications (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint)
• Ability to use all office equipment, computer, calculator, fax machine and copy machine is required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, multi-task, prioritize tasks and work without supervision
• Good communication, problem solving and organizational skills
• Excellent customer service and public relations skills
• Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays
• Proficient swimmer
• Full driving license

Education and/or Experience        

 Ideal candidates will hold a High Scholl Diploma or other related field knowledge and skills. One to Two years related experience and/or training.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $23.30.
