As a Lead Power Electronics Engineer, you will serve as a technical authority for the design and development of high-power converters for Solar, BESS, and STATCOM applications. You will own the full product lifecycle—from conceptualization and real-time modeling to prototype validation and grid-code certification. This role focuses on high-efficiency power conversion, grid integration, and robust control systems to support the evolving infrastructure of modern datacenters and renewable energy plants.
Job Description
Key Roles and Responsibilities
End-to-End Technical Leadership: Lead the development of advanced power converter projects for renewable and datacenter applications from concept through to validated delivery.
Design & Engineering:
Design and specify critical power components, including high-power semiconductors (IGBTs, SiC Mosfets), gate drive circuits, high-speed control boards, and magnetic components.
Perform electrical sizing, circuit modeling, and simulation (switching waveforms, loss modeling, and control loops) to meet efficiency and power density requirements.
Maintain ownership of engineering artifacts, including SLDs, BOMs, schematics, and design specifications.
System Integration & Grid Controls:
Develop and validate complex control algorithms for voltage-source and current-source converters.
Create models of power electronics for use in grid-level power quality and stability studies (Solar/BESS integration).
Support system-level integration for datacenter power architectures.
Validation & Compliance:
Define and execute product validation test plans, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and system-level performance testing.
Ensure compliance with regional grid codes, IEEE standards, and global safety certifications (UL, IEC, NEC).
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Interface with customers, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and project requirements.
Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of engineering excellence and technical rigor.
Required Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of R&D or engineering experience, with a specific focus on Solar Inverters, BESS, or STATCOM technologies.
Technical Proficiency:
Deep expertise in power conversion topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC).
Strong background in semiconductor device physics, loss modeling, and control theory.
Proficiency in simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, ETAB) and schematic/layout software (Altium/ORCAD).
Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering projects and mentoring personnel in a global, matrixed organization.
Desired Characteristics
Technical Depth: Experience in high-frequency PCB design, EMI/EMC optimization, and managing stray inductance/capacitance in switching environments.
Grid Knowledge: Strong understanding of grid-connected inverter behavior, reactive power compensation, and power quality requirements for renewables.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to represent the company in technical forums, standards committees, and customer design reviews.
Mindset: A self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, high integrity, and a passion for advancing sustainable energy and datacenter infrastructure.
