Job Description Summary
As a Lead V&V (Verification & Validation) Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on the design, configuration, testing, and validation of complex HVDC Control & Protection (C&P) and automation systems. You will drive consistent design practices, common global processes, and robust V&V strategies to ensure flawless execution across projects (OTR), NPI and product care.
This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a motivated engineering leader to expand their technical and project management capabilities within an international organization delivering world-class HVDC solutions. Our Lead Engineers are essential to project success, providing technical leadership, overseeing the testing lifecycle from lab to site commissioning, and ensuring operational rigor, safety, and quality standards are strictly maintained.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
· Manage and lead a multidisciplinary team specializing in C&P systems, automation, HV/LV power systems, and V&V, ensuring solutions meet all contract, quality, and regulatory requirements.
· Provide expert technical guidance across the project lifecycle—including Tendering, Lab Testing (RTDS/ATE), FAT/FST, Site Commissioning, and Service. Deputize for the Project Engineering Manager (PEM) when required.
· Plan, monitor, and execute all V&V-related activities, ensuring rigorous defect tracking, traceability, test documentation, and compliance with grid codes and functional specifications.
· Monitor and control engineering budgets, schedules, documentation, and risk management processes. Manage change control (CCB) and drive design reviews in line with company guidelines.
· Act as the primary technical interface with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, NPI, and Product Care. Translate customer needs into robust, profitable technical solutions.
· Drive improvement initiatives, standardization, and "cost-out" plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Apply a lean mindset to streamline review processes and eliminate redundant work.
· Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of engineers. Support their career development, manage workload and shift planning effectively, and foster a healthy, sustainable working culture (preventing burnout and ensuring team retention).
- Support the Project (Engineering) Manager as required and deputise for them as and when the need arises. Plan and progress all design engineering related activities.
- Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification with suitable industry experience.
- Proven engineering and project execution experience within HVDC, Control & Protection, or grid-connected systems, with a strong focus on Verification & Validation or testing.
- Deep understanding of HVDC, system integration, and testing methodologies (e.g., RTDS, ATE, simulation tools).
- Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing technical teams in a complex engineering environment.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, project schedules, risks, and multi-task under strict time scales while maintaining engineering integrity, quality, and safety.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to present to senior stakeholders and manage customer relationships.
- Willingness to work flexibly when required and travel globally for site support or customer alignment.
