Managing Consultant - Forensic Technology, Investigations & Discovery

We Do Consulting Differently

Berkeley Research Group (BRG) is a global consulting firm that helps leading organisations advance in three principal areas: disputes and investigations, corporate finance, and performance improvement and advisory. More than 1,600 professionals work across over 40 offices worldwide.

Our forensic teams bring together Economists, Certified Fraud Examiners, business intelligence specialists, chartered accountants, forensic technologists, former regulators and former prosecutors. We are known for intellectual rigour, independence and work that stands up to scrutiny in boardrooms, courts and arbitral tribunals.

The Opportunity

We are establishing BRG's Forensic Investigations practice in APAC and the UK. This is a genuine build — a new team, in a new market, with the methodology, credentials and global network of an established international firm behind it, and without the constraints of a legacy structure.

The practice focuses on two connected disciplines: forensic accounting and fraud investigations, and forensic technology and eDiscovery. Our work typically arises where the facts are contested and the stakes are high — special investigations for supervisory boards and audit committees, allegations of financial misstatement, corruption and misappropriation, regulatory and criminal proceedings, and post-transaction disputes.

The Managing Consultant is a mid-level staff position and takes the lead in client communication, staff and project management.

Your Responsibilities

• Plan and manage all aspects of small to medium sized client engagements and discreet segments of larger projects.
• Delegate assignments to staff, instruct and monitor progress, and review work product for completeness and accuracy.
• Develop analyses and financial models using transactional data and/or financial data.
• Generate client deliverables and make valuable contributions to expert reports.
• Manage client relationships and communicate results and work product as appropriate.
• Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of relevant software tools, analytical methods and computer models to develop solutions.
• Participate in group practice meetings, contribute to business development initiatives and office functions such as staff training and recruiting.
• Prioritise assignments and responsibilities in order to meet goals and deadlines.

Your Profile

• At least five years of relevant experience in audit, forensic services, internal audit, compliance, transaction services or data analytics.
• A university degree in business administration, accounting, economics, finance, law, information systems, data science or a comparable subject.
• Confident Excel skills and genuine interest in working with data. Exposure to SQL, Python, Alteryx or Relativity is an advantage but can also be learned here.
• Precision and stamina. Investigations involve long stretches of detailed work where a small inconsistency can turn out to matter a great deal.
• Discretion in handling confidential information.
• Excellent written and verbal English skills.

What We Offer

• Genuine investigative work from the start, rather than years of preparation for it.
• A small team in build-up phase, which means visibility and responsibility sooner than in a large established practice.
• Competitive salary with performance-related bonus.
