Manufacturing Expert | Feasibility | Technical Point of Contact | NPI | Project Management
Key duties & Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Engineer as the name entitles should be the manufacturing expert. Shortly, this means:
- Responsible for RFQ’s (Request for Quotation)
- Setting up the production / manufacturing processes in the early phases of a project
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team and support product engineering in priority setting
- Represent the department within CCB (Change Control Board) and Program / Project Team
- Act as escalation owner for complex PE related escalations
- Be the owner for continuous improvement projects
Analytical skills & Engineering knowledge:
- Resource estimation during the different phases of the project:
- FTE
- VC (pre calculated production lead time vs. production lead time)
- Required skills at shopfloor
- Design & manufacturing reviews:
- TPD review
- Is it manufacturable with the current existing skills, processes and production facilities?
- Create Process / Manufacturing documentation:
- PFMEA & Control Plan
- M-BOM
- Create shopfloor layout:
- VSM
- Spaghetti diagram with:
- People flow
- Material Flow
- Manufacturing Flow
- Waste Flow
- Accuracy of Item Cards (EGMS, Handling Codes, Analyze Codes, Production Routing, Cleaning Costs)
- Act as third line support on production issues

Main KPI’s:
- Quality: Time for open customer complaints ≤ 1.5 months
- Quality: Accepted customer complaints < 1500ppm
- Cost: NC/VC ≤ 95% (efficiency)
- Safety / Quality / Deliveries / Cost: Continuous improvement initiatives ≥ 4 / year
- CCB completion on time
Background:
- Completed (minimum) HBO education, preferably in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of work experience in a similar role with strong customer liaison experience.
- Experience in a production environment with high-tech products and complex assembly processes.
- Experience in project management is an advantage.
