BUILT DIFFERENT
We believe there's a better way to build. One that moves faster, thinks bigger, and gives people the ownership to challenge what's been done before. We're not here to follow the standard. We're here to set a new one. We don't believe the best work happens inside rigid boxes. People are given real ownership, real responsibility, and the space to operate beyond a title. Scope grows with impact and responsibility grows with trust. And the people who step up help shape what comes next. We're building an organization around ownership, where your influence is defined by what you take on. An internship at Hut 8 provides you with the opportunity to take on real work and drive real outcomes.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The infrastructure is ambitious. The people behind it should be too.
We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineering intern who is curious, asks “why,” and wants to do real engineering work from day one. You’ll work side by side with our engineers on live data center projects, contribute to designs and calculations that actually get built, and leave with work you can point to.
WHAT YOU'LL TAKE ON
+ Learn it: Get hands-on with the mechanical systems behind a data center: chilled-water plants, air-cooled and direct-liquid-cooling (DLC) systems, piping, and fire protection
+ Support it: Help our engineers with load calculations, pipe and pump sizing, equipment selections, and P&ID and drawing markups, with guidance and review from licensed PEs
+ See it built: Join site visits, follow field issues from question to fix, and watch a design turn into construction, commissioning, and startup
+ Challenge it: Ask hard questions about cost, constructability, and redundancy. Fresh eyes are an asset here, and safety and reliability always come first
+ Own it: Take on a defined project of your own, from first question to final recommendation, and present it to the team at the end of your internship
WHAT YOU BRING
+ Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, such as Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering (mechanical/MEP), or Energy Systems Engineering with a thermal-fluids foundation
+ Graduating in December 2027 or June 2028 with an undergraduate or graduate degree
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3
+ Coursework in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, or HVAC
+ Real interest in critical cooling and data center infrastructure
+ Comfort with AutoCAD, MATLAB, or Python, and the ability to pick up new engineering software quickly
+ Track record of personal accountability, integrity, and respect for others, the company, and oneself
+ Exceptional interpersonal skills to support team cohesion and successful project execution
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with diverse groups and individuals
+ Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines, while contributing to inclusive and cooperative teams
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
BUILT FOR THIS
If you are curious, hungry to learn, drawn to hard problems, willing to ask “why,” and ready to do real work from week one.
BONUS POINTS
+ You’ve used CFD or thermal-hydraulic modeling tools (AFT Fathom, ANSYS, or similar) in a class or lab
+ You’ve worked or interned in construction, HVAC, or industrial settings, or built something hands-on
