Job Description:
Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Oracle WebLogic Administrator with deep expertise in deploying, managing, and optimizing Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Fusion Middleware across on-premises and OCI-hosted environments. This role owns the full middleware lifecycle from domain provisioning, clustering, and performance engineering to patching, security hardening, and cloud migration supporting mission-critical Oracle application stacks including E-Business Suite, Siebel CRM, Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Service Bus (OSB), and Oracle Integration middleware.
Key Responsibilities
WebLogic Domain Administration
- Install, configure, and manage Oracle WebLogic Server (12c, 14c) across development, staging, and production environments.
- Design and administer WebLogic domains including Admin Servers, Managed Servers, clusters, machine configurations, and Node Managers.
- Configure and manage JDBC data sources, connection pools, JMS resources (queues, topics, connection factories), and work managers.
- Administer WebLogic security realms authentication providers (LDAP, Active Directory, OAM), authorization policies, SSL/TLS certificates, and keystores.
- Manage WebLogic deployments EAR/WAR/JAR lifecycle, staged/nostage deployments, versioned deployments, and rollback procedures.
- Configure coherence clusters, session replication, and distributed caching where applicable.
Oracle Fusion Middleware Administration
- Administer Oracle SOA Suite SOA composites, BPEL processes, Mediator, Human Workflow, and Business Rules across SOA clusters.
- Manage Oracle Service Bus (OSB) proxy/business services, message pipelines, transformations, routing rules, and throttling configurations.
- Administer Oracle HTTP Server (OHS), Oracle Traffic Director (OTD), and Oracle Web Cache for web-tier load balancing and request routing.
- Manage Oracle Identity and Access Management (OAM, OIM, OUD, OID) middleware components on WebLogic.
- Administer Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE/OAS) and Oracle Forms/Reports middleware deployments.
- Manage Oracle Enterprise Manager Fusion Middleware Control (EM FMWC) for monitoring, diagnostics, and configuration management.
Oracle Application Stack Support
- Manage WebLogic and Fusion Middleware tiers underpinning Oracle E-Business Suite EBS WebLogic domains, Oracle HTTP Server, Forms/Reports services, and concurrent processing infrastructure.
- Administer middleware for Siebel CRM Siebel Application Interface (AI), Siebel Gateway, Siebel Server components, and WebLogic-hosted Siebel web services.
- Support Oracle SOA/OSB/AIA integration middleware composite deployment, fault management, adapter configurations (DB, File, FTP, JMS, REST), and endpoint lifecycle.
- Manage middleware for Oracle BRM BRM web services gateway, custom pipeline integration endpoints, and WebLogic-hosted billing APIs.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery
- Design and manage WebLogic clustering for horizontal scalability and active-active/active-passive HA topologies.
- Configure and maintain Oracle Global Load Balancer (GLB), Oracle Traffic Director, and hardware/software load balancers (F5, HAProxy) for WebLogic tier.
- Implement WebLogic whole-server migration, service migration, and singleton services for automatic failover.
- Design and execute DR runbooks for WebLogic/FMW environments including cross-site Data Guard integration, rsync-based replication, and OCI-based DR strategies.
- Manage and test failover/switchover procedures with documented RTO/RPO alignment.
Performance Engineering & Tuning
- Tune JVM parameters (heap sizing, garbage collection G1GC, ZGC), thread pools, work managers, and execute queues for optimal throughput.
- Monitor and optimize WebLogic performance using WLST, WLDF (WebLogic Diagnostic Framework), Flight Recorder, and thread dump analysis.
- Analyze and resolve stuck threads, memory leaks, connection pool exhaustion, and session management issues.
- Conduct capacity planning sizing WebLogic domains, JVM instances, and cluster node counts based on workload profiling.
- Integrate with enterprise monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OEM, Datadog) for real-time WebLogic and FMW health observability.
Patching & Lifecycle Management
- Plan and execute WebLogic and Fusion Middleware patching (CPU/PSU/RU patches, one-off patches) using OPatch and BSU.
- Manage Oracle Middleware home structures, inventory management, and patch conflict resolution.
- Coordinate patching windows with application and database teams, ensuring rollback readiness.
- Execute WebLogic version upgrades (e.g., 12c to 14c) and Fusion Middleware stack upgrades with minimal downtime.
Cloud Migration & OCI
- Migrate WebLogic and Fusion Middleware workloads to OCI lift-and-shift to OCI Compute, re-platform to WebLogic for OCI (Marketplace/Terraform), or modernize to OKE.
- Provision and manage WebLogic on OCI using Marketplace images, Terraform stacks, and OCI Resource Manager.
- Administer Oracle WebLogic Suite for OCI, including integration with OCI Load Balancer, OCI DNS, and OCI WAF.
- Evaluate and implement containerization of WebLogic workloads using WebLogic Kubernetes Operator on OKE.
- Configure OCI-native monitoring and log aggregation for WebLogic workloads (OCI Logging, Logging Analytics, APM).
Automation & Tooling
- Develop and maintain automation using WLST (WebLogic Scripting Tool) for domain creation, configuration, deployment, and monitoring.
- Build Infrastructure as Code for WebLogic provisioning using Terraform and Ansible playbooks.
- Automate routine tasks log rotation, health checks, deployment pipelines, and certificate renewals.
- Administer Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 13c Cloud Control for WebLogic/FMW target monitoring and compliance.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8–10 years of progressive experience in Oracle middleware administration with deep expertise in Oracle WebLogic Server (12c/14c).
- Expert-level knowledge of WebLogic domain architecture clustering, JMS, JDBC, security realms, Node Manager, and deployment models.
- Strong experience administering Oracle Fusion Middleware: SOA Suite, OSB, OHS, OAM/OIM, and EM FMWC.
- Proven experience supporting WebLogic/FMW tiers for at least two of: Oracle EBS, Siebel CRM, Oracle SOA/OSB/AIA, or Oracle BRM.
- Deep proficiency in JVM tuning (G1GC, ZGC, heap/metaspace sizing) and WebLogic performance diagnostics (WLDF, thread dumps, heap dumps).
- Strong experience with WebLogic patching, upgrade lifecycles, and Oracle Middleware home management.
- Hands-on experience migrating WebLogic workloads to OCI (Compute, Marketplace, OKE).
- Proficiency in WLST scripting and at least one automation language: Python, Bash, or Ansible.
- Working knowledge of Linux system administration (Oracle Linux / RHEL).
- Strong understanding of load balancing, SSL/TLS, DNS, and web-tier architecture.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce clear operational documentation and engage with application and client stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Oracle certifications: Oracle WebLogic Server 12c/14c Certified Administrator, Oracle SOA Suite Certified Implementation Specialist, OCI Architect Associate.
- Experience with WebLogic Kubernetes Operator and containerized WebLogic deployments on OKE.
- Familiarity with Terraform (OCI provider) for middleware infrastructure automation.
- Experience with Oracle Traffic Director (OTD) and Oracle Global Load Balancer (GLB).
- Knowledge of Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and hybrid middleware integration patterns.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or Splunk integrated with WebLogic/FMW.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for middleware deployments (Jenkins, GitLab, ArgoCD).
- Experience with Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) and mod_wl_ohs configuration.
- Knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC, SAML, and Oracle Access Manager (OAM) integration patterns.
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management awareness.
- Experience working in managed services, telecom, or consulting delivery environments.
