Job Description:
Primary Purpose
The Centre for Education in Mathematics & Computing (CEMC) is Canada’s largest and most recognized outreach organization for promoting and creating activities and materials in mathematics and computer science and is housed within the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo. Our mission is to increase interest, enjoyment, confidence, and ability in mathematics and computer science among learners and educators in Canada and internationally. We do that through a commitment to our core values: future readiness, access, community, and impact. As such, the CEMC is the first point of contact at Waterloo for a significant percentage of our future undergraduate and graduate students and their parents. Through outreach activities, the CEMC has perhaps the largest set of external points of contact amongst any unit on campus.
The Bilingual Outreach Activities Administrator is the first point of contact for CEMC clients and is primarily responsible for bilingual delivery of customer service and outreach administrative support for various CEMC activities such as: contests, workshops, events, courses, online resources, and related programs and initiatives. This role also performs the critical function of providing French translation of our website, online learning resources, and communication pieces. This position executes the answering or directing of client-based inquiries, problem-solving customer issues, record keeping, organizing activities, and bilingual client communications support. This position provides staff and faculty support as needed and supports administrative coordination, stakeholder experience, strategic initiatives, and program enhancements across the unit.
