People Business Partner, EMEA

Job Description:

The People Team at Flexport is a strategic partner in driving business success through our most important asset - our people. We strive to deliver talent strategy, leadership development, and exceptional employee experiences that enable our teams to thrive. Guided by our values, we empower our internal clients, build for the long term, act with an entrepreneurial spirit, and simplify complexity to create scalable, high-impact solutions. Above all, we win as a team—collaborating across the organization to help everyone grow and perform at their best.

The Opportunity:

We're seeking a People Business Partner to provide comprehensive HR support across our growing region. This isn't just about maintaining; it's about building and refining HR processes that empower our rapidly expanding workforce. Your focus: answering manager requests quickly and accurately, and guiding them through employee lifecycle events, working within established SOPs. You'll be responsible for a wide spectrum of HR functions like employee relations, compliance, and performance management. You‘ll be a seasoned, confident partner to your leaders: someone who knows what needs attention now, what can be handled quickly, and how to balance efficiency with building lasting relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Day-to-day manager support and Employee Lifecycle: Be the first point of contact for manager requests. Guide leaders through onboarding, internal mobility, absence management and offboarding, following our SOPs. Keep processes swift and transparent, and continuously review and improve them.
• Ensure Compliance: Apply local labor law in day-to-day cases in the countries we operate in, thus minimizing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Work in partnership with the legal department as necessary and proactively address any potential legal or compliance risks in accordance with the latest changes in labor laws and regulations.
• Performance Management: Provide managers with essential guidance on handling performance-related matters and support the review cycles. Oversee the performance appraisal process to ensure its effectiveness.
• Employee Relations: Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and management regarding employee relations matters. Manage employee relations issues and develop relationships with leaders, employees and peers across the offices to facilitate and promote an environment that attracts and retains diverse talent
• Policy Guidance: Assist in ensuring the application of company policies and procedures align with local needs, labor laws and regulations, reflect best practices, and support organizational goals. While the role isn't policy enforcement-centric, you'll occasionally work with the HR leadership team to provide guidance on policy matters when necessary.
• Projects: Support recurring projects such as the twice-yearly review cycle, ad hoc requests and legal change implementation.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of HR experience in a hands-on, operational role, ideally across multiple countries
• Deep understanding of labor law in the Netherlands and the UK. Additional EU countries are a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and a natural affinity for processes and SOPs
• Hands-on and resilient: able to prioritise and stay decisive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Exceptional people skills: handle sensitive matters with tact, and be confident enough to push back constructively
• Proficiency in HRIS (Workday or similar) and other HR technologies
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Analytical and problem-solving skills

What you can expect in return:

• An opportunity to contribute to one of the fastest-growing companies, where you’ll have the chance to create a global impact while being a part of a thriving multinational environment and expanding region
• Daily catered lunches incl. vegetarian options, breakfast, snacks and soft drinks available in our office on daily basis
• Commute expenses: Flexport will cover home-office commuting costs for employees living outside of Amsterdam
• 25 working days as vacation days based on full time employment.
• Health insurance: Flexport offers a collective health insurance plan including a basic package and any available additional packages. Your monthly premium is fully paid by Flexport.
• A defined pension contribution scheme
• Equity program: every team member becomes a shareholder, aligning our success with yours. As a private company in a multi-trillion dollar industry, you have a direct stake in our collective growth and success.
• Employee Assistance Program through Aetna Resources for Living: Flexport provides an employer-sponsored program at no cost to you and your household members
• Parental leave benefit: Flexport is here to support you and your families in one of the most important times in life – the birth of a child! Our parental leave program allows both mothers and partners to take time off from work for pregnancy, childbirth, and to bond with your new child.
