Abby Care is building the leading AI-native platform for family-led care. America is facing a growing care crisis. Millions more people need care at home than ever. Over 50 million family caregivers support loved ones without the tools, training, or recognition they deserve.
We believe families are the largest untapped caregiving workforce in America, and that technology can help them deliver better care while driving stronger outcomes and greater transparency across the healthcare system.
Abby Care combines clinical oversight with an AI-powered platform to train, enable, and support family caregivers in delivering high-quality care at home. Our platform helps health plans and government partners better understand, verify, and improve care in the home. We expand access to care, reduce reliance on higher-cost settings, and help ensure public dollars are spent effectively.
We are proud to partner with leading health plans, providers, and community organizations and are backed by top VCs. We envision a future where family-led care is a core part of the healthcare system. Abby Care is building that future.
Join us in solving one of the most important challenges of our time.
The Opportunity:
As we expand our capacity to support more family caregivers at scale, we are growing the teams that support and drive this work. We are looking for a creative, energized, analytical and organized People Experience & Engagement Manager to redesign our highest-impact people programs, initiatives and communications for our corporate and clinical workforce. This is a high-impact individual contributor role that is not managing people or teams.
Reporting to our People Business Partner, you’ll own critical components of our employee lifecycle in a high-tempo, rapidly evolving environment where priorities shift fast and ambiguity is the norm, not the exception. Sitting at the intersection of feels and frameworks, you’ll drive a variety of people programs that ramp new hires up for success, support team cohesion through new engagement strategies and drive accountability and feedback through bi-annual performance review cycles.
You are:
A true start-up enthusiast, where ambiguity is an opportunity rather than a roadblock.
Obsessed with solving problems in new ways and recognize that just because a people program worked at another company doesn’t mean it’s the right fit for Abby Care.
Comfortable rolling up your sleeves in execution mode, and zooming out to make data-driven decisions amidst competing complexities.
Highly collaborative with team leaders, knowing that teams have varying experience and engagement needs and building rapport and buy-in will increase velocity and impact.
A trusted and clear communicator who thrives in the space of “what is” and “what could be” with realistic outcomes.
Highly capable of balancing team member desires with company strategy, spiking on emotional intelligence.
Energized by facilitating trainings for the people programs that will move the needle on performance and engagement at the company level.
Data orientated with the ability to use metrics (eNPS, attrition, performance, engagement score) to tell a story, influence key stakeholders and drive change.
This is a Full-Time Hybrid opportunity based in San Francisco, CA.
What you’ll work on:
Build the Onboarding Operating System: Create an end-to-end onboarding experience for our corporate and clinical workforce that blends the intimate feels of mission-driven start-up with a scalable process across 8 states (and growing!) so new Abby Care team members are set-up for success on Day 1.
Design Engagement Initiatives: From community building initiatives to surveys and action planning, you will roll-out engagement initiatives that measure employee sentiment and inform future programming and team member investments.
Execute Seamless Performance Review Cycles: In collaboration with the People Business Partner, design, communicate and execute mid-year and end-of-year performance cycles that drive high engagement and effectiveness across teams. Performance reviews are not just a rinse-and-repeat HR program, but an opportunity to provide meaningful feedback, set priorities and behavioral expectations for the next 6 months and build alignment between team members and managers.
Strategize on Communications Planning: Rethink and redesign the rhythms and routines of the business, reinforcing company traditions and creating new ones that drive cohesion across a hybrid organization.
What Success Looks Like:
Build a best-in-class onboarding experience: Design and launch the structure, content, resources, and technology needed for corporate and clinical onboarding, ensuring 100% of new hires have the information and tools they need by the end of their first week.
Turn employee feedback into action: Launch pulse and engagement surveys to establish baseline satisfaction data, identify key themes, and translate insights into clear, meaningful action plans for team and department leaders.
Execute a seamless performance cycle: Achieve 97%+ on-time completion of EOY performance reviews, seamlessly connecting reviews to calibration, promotions, compensation decisions, and employee feedback.
Create clarity and predictability across the year for Clinical and Corporate teams: Build and communicate a clear annual People Team roadmap so employees know what to expect and leaders can proactively incorporate staffing, talent development, and organizational effectiveness into their planning.
What you’ll have:
5+ years of experience in People Operations, Employee Experience or Learning & Development in scaling environments
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including experience working with high-level management teams or executives.
High proficiency and curiosity to explore new technologies and platforms to scale people programs
Experience with people- and communication-centric tools, including: Lattice, Workday, Google Suite, Slack and Notion
Proven track record of end-to-end problem-solving; from initial idea to strategic initiative to full implementation, while maintaining excellent day-to-day execution.
Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive decision-making and process improvement.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills. You can distill complex information into clear, actionable insights for any audience - field teams or executives.
Deep empathy and emotional intelligence, with a genuine passion for helping underserved communities.
Must reside or be willing to permanently relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Experience in the healthcare industry as well as managing programs for offshore teams is preferred but not required.
Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. At this time, Abby Care is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa.
Competitive compensation packages that reflect the value you bring. We reward our team for the impact of their work.
Comprehensive health coverage that works for you. Choose from high-quality medical dental and vision options, including a $0 deductible PPO and a company-funded HSA, alongside employer-paid life and disability insurance.
Generous paid time off. We provide policies that allow you to recharge along with 10 paid company holidays.
Financial savings benefits to support your future. We support your financial well-being with HSA contributions, optional FSA and commuter benefits, and full coverage of all 401(k) account fees (employer match not currently offered).
Paid parental leave to support your growing family. We provide paid leave, so you can focus on bonding and adjusting to life as your family grows.
We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds, consistent with applicable laws. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, satisfactory references, and any required documentation.
Families First
Redefining healthcare starts with how we treat the parents and children we serve. We go above and beyond for every family, building strong, lasting relationships. We continually ask ourselves, “Would we want this for our own families?”
Urgency with Precision
Millions of families are waiting for care, and they cannot wait, therefore this is not your typical 9 to 5 job. We match their urgency with our own, delivering exceptional care without compromise. Here, speed and excellence go hand in hand.
Relentlessly Resourceful
As an ambitious startup, we adapt quickly and make the most of limited time and resources. We solve challenges with creativity to deliver results without unnecessary complexity.
Purpose with Positivity
We take our mission seriously while never losing sight of the people behind the work. Respect, kindness, memes, and coffee make us stronger as a team and better for the families we serve.
Driven to Redefine What’s Possible
We are here to make healthcare better, which means asking hard questions, challenging outdated systems, and finding smarter, more compassionate ways to deliver care.
