Hybrid
bunch is building the backbone of private markets. We are enabling next-gen fund operations with one integrated system that combines secure data infrastructure, AI-powered workflows and expert fund services. If you value ownership, growth through real responsibility, and working with a thoughtful, ambitious team, this role might be for you.
bunch is around 155 people across Berlin, London, and Amsterdam, and Luxembourg, on the way to roughly 200 in 2027. That means four legal entities, four payroll providers, different sets of people systems to reconcile, different compliance environments.
Right now our People operations run 50% on effort. We want them to run mostly on systems. We also want our people data to be trustworthy enough that headcount, attrition, and hiring numbers are the same in every room they're quoted in.
This person will own the operational and data backbone that the rest of the People function depends on.
Take full, end-to-end ownership of core People Operations topics — including onboarding, offboarding, contracts, leaves, absence, payroll, immigration cases and documentation — from decision-making through execution.
Design, build, and roll out automated, AI-supported workflows and integrations across our tools — including Personio (HRIS) and Notion — to eliminate manual work and connect our systems.
Coordinate monthly payroll across Germany, the UK and the Netherlands and in the near future, Luxembourg, with our external providers. You own data accuracy, deadlines and the provider relationships — the providers own the processing.
Maintain the compliance calendar and the documentation behind it, working with external counsel where local employment law is involved.
Manage and support our full workforce across multiple contract types and locations, ensuring correct setup, documentation, and ongoing administration for each.
Be the first line for employee questions on policy, contracts, leave and benefits — and steadily reduce that volume by making the answers self-serve in our handbook.
Own the documentation and record-keeping behind employee relations cases: case files, timelines, correspondence.
Proactively identify gaps and inefficiencies in our People Operations processes, and independently drive improvement projects from idea through implementation.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date HRIS data as a reliable single source of truth, and support strategic reporting and people analytics to inform business decisions.
5+ years of experience in People Operations or HR administration, ideally in a fast-paced, international or scaling startup environment
Proven end-to-end ownership of operational topics across the employee journey
A strong track record in automation, including designing and implementing workflow integrations or AI-supported solutions in an HR or operations context
Strong data literacy: you can build reliable reports, spot inconsistencies and investigate until the numbers are trustworthy
Experience supporting a varied, international workforce across different contract types, legal entities, locations and working models
Knowledge of German employment law and compliance requirements; UK or Luxembourgish employment law is a plus
Payroll coordination experience with external providers in at least one European country, owning accurate inputs, deadlines and provider relationships
Hands-on ownership of an HRIS — Personio ideally, or a comparable system you have configured and maintained — plus confidence connecting tools such as Notion to build efficient workflows
Excellent judgment and communication skills, with the ability to act as a trusted advisor to employees, managers and senior stakeholders
Fluency in English; German is a plus.
Own it: You take responsibility for outcomes, manage competing priorities and keep your work, decisions and commitments clearly documented and on track
Aim for impact: You look beyond the immediate request, prioritise what moves the needle and remove recurring work through better processes, automation and self-service
Empower others: You are professional yet personable, a trusted, approachable partner who communicates clearly, protects confidentiality and holds boundaries with care
Always be curious: You question inefficient ways of working, think through edge cases and keep learning across systems, data and changing compliance requirements
Enjoy the ride: You bring warmth, resilience and positive energy, helping people feel supported even when the topic is stressful or sensitive
Detail-obsessed, in a good way: You get genuine satisfaction from accurate records, correctly filed documents and carefully tracked deadlines, because you know that is where compliance and trust are won or lost.
Customizable benefits package covering wellbeing, sport, mobility, food and more
28 days of vacation, plus two company days and local public holidays
Remote-flexible hybrid work with three days per week in the office
Up to 6 remote calendar weeks per year
A great tech and work setup
Work with a diverse team of 150+ bunchies from 40+ countries, with leaders who are best-in-class in their domains
Intro call (30 min) — Senior People Business Partner. Your background, the role, mutual fit
Hiring manager interview (60 min) — Joana, People Lead. Scope, experience, how you work
Practical Case (90 min) — a real problem from our stack, discussed together with a white board
Final Round: Stakeholder conversations (2x30 min) — Finance & Legal and Co-Founder
About bunch
bunch is building the operating infrastructure for the next generation of private markets. We combine AI-powered automation with deep regulatory expertise to replace fragmented spreadsheets and manual processes with one integrated platform across the fund lifecycle, purpose-built for private markets heading toward $32 trillion in Assets Under Management.
We've 4x our ARR in 2025, crossed 150 fund managers and 12,000 LPs on the platform, and just closed our $35M Series B in May 2026. We're looking for ambitious people who want real ownership of hard problems, and who care about building infrastructure that actually matters to the people using it.
