Overview:
Dr. Diana Zepeda-Orozco's Lab focuses on Onco-nephrology and use of biomarkers to identify specific kidney injury phenotypes for targeted therapeutic approaches. The laboratory uses pre-clinical models and human samples to develop mitochondrially targeted therapeutic approaches leveraging tumor and normal cells metabolism differences to protect from chemotherapy and radiation induced nephrotoxicity without protecting tumor cells. The fellow will design experiments and develop protocols to conduct research to understand kidney toxicity associated with using anti-cancer therapies in different preclinical models.
